June 26, 2023
The Fredericktown Village Council met in special session on June 26, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. at the
Fredericktown Municipal Building. The purpose of the special meeting was to discuss Resolution 2023-20,
in regards to moving forward with the Streetscape Project, and declaring an emergency.
PRESENT: Council Members Brewer, de Rojas, Hobson, Lanuzza, McKnight, and Shoemaker; Mayor
Day; Village Administrator Snell; Fiscal Officer Suzan Graves was out sick.
DISCUSSION: Mayor Day called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. The reason this resolution is declared
an emergency is for the sake of allowing the contractor to perform the construction before costs further
escalate over time.
Bids for the construction of the Streetscape Project were opened by ODOT on June 22, 2023. ODOT
indicated that the best and lowest bid was submitted by Smith Paving, Inc., with a bid of $1,595,404.75.
James Hobson suggested Council expressing approval with moving forward on the project, as opposed to
expressing their intention to move forward. Council discussed several wording options, then ultimately
agreed to use the verb approve, as opposed to expressing intention to move forward on the project.
Rick Lanuzza made a motion to approve moving forward with the Fredericktown Streetscape Project, based
on the bid submitted by Smith Paving, Incorporated. Motion was seconded by James Hobson. Council voted
6-0 to approve moving forward on the Streetscape Project.
ADJOURNMENT – James Hobson made a motion to adjourn. Seconded by Ryan Shoemaker. All Yea.
Meeting adjourned at 5:49 p.m.
