AIRPORT ADVISORY COMMITTEE Meeting Minutes: January 16, 2015 1. Meeting called to order with Open Meeting announcement. Meeting began at 8:15 A.M. 2. Roll call. Board Members Present: Eric Johnson, Robert Steenblock, Ron Vlach, Mike McGillick, Mike Kempenar, Dave Monke Guests: David Goedeken, Jim Kjeldgaard, Vic Rader, Ken Cox 3. Approval of the December 19, 2014 meeting minutes. Motion by Ron Vlach and seconded by Dave Monke to approve the December 19, 2014 minutes, motion passed by vote of members. 4. Terminal Master Plan project update and discussion. Johnson reported the FAA has the draft copy and has relayed they have comments but are reserving final comments until the final draft is received. 5. Discuss Airport C.I.P. Goedeken reported that the Fremont Airport C.I.P. has been submitted to the state for their review. The same C.I.P. was submitted to the City Council for their review at the recent City Council Retreat, no formal action was taken by the City Council. 6. FAA Letter regarding Hazard Determination with 23rd Street Viaduct Project. Goedeken and Johnson reported they have been meeting with the FAA and Nebraska Aeronautics regarding the recent Hazard Mitigation letter received by the city due to the impacts of the proposed 23rd Street Viaduct Project. It was noted that the recent ADG Terminal Study references future closure of this runway in all their Alternatives. The FAA and Nebraska Aeronautics have noted that the existing runway is in poor condition, and does not presently meet width requirements. 7. Discuss possible closure of Runway 1/19. Motion by Ron Vlach and seconded by Dave Monke to close Runway 1-19 prior to the construction of the Viaduct Project, and that the existing runway surface to remain in place and be reclassified as a Taxiway, motion passed by vote of members.  Goedeken noted that the Nebraska Department of Roads and the Federal Highway Administration may require the closure to occur prior to signing off on the Environmental Assessment documents for the Viaduct Project. Therefore, the requirement for closure may occur sooner than actual construction. This item will brought before the City Council for their consideration on January 27th. 8. Adjournment.
