AIRPORT ADVISORY COMMITTEE Meeting Minutes: May 20, 2016 1. Meeting called to order with Open Meeting announcement. Meeting was called to order at 8:15 A.M. 2. Roll call. Board Members Present: Dave Monke, Robert Steenblock, Eric Johnson, Bill Dugan, Ron Vlach, Mike McGillick, Mike Kempenar Guests: David Goedeken, Jim Kjeldgaard, Brian Newton (Fremont Department of Utilities General Manager) 3. Approval of the April 15, 2016 meeting minutes. Motion by Robert Steenblock and seconded by Ron Vlach, to approve the April 15, 2016 minutes, motion passed by vote of members. 4. Brian Newton, and discussion of having a solar panel farm at the Fremont Airport. Brian is the General Manager of the Fremont Department of Utilities. In an effort to increase their “Green” power production, the DU is looking for sites to locate a solar electric generating farm. One potential location is to utilize vacant land at the airport. Brian discussed the concept and potential to the board to gather their support. If this potential use is further pursued the DU would come before the board again for a formal recommendation to be taken to the City Council. 5. Terminal Master Plan project update and discussion. Goedeken reported that he has had contact with Anna Lannin with the NDA regarding the status of the terminal study. The Nebraska rep. at the FAA has concluded his review and will be making recommendations soon. Chairman Johnson reported that his understanding is that it may be difficult to obtain funding for the westerly site and the other options as submitted may be the preferred choice of the NDA and FAA. 6. Discussion of draft letter to tenants on proposed changes to new hangar leases. A draft tenant letter was passed out for board review. General discussion was that there needs to be a notification process to all hangar tenants regarding rules and policies at the Fremont Airport. 7. Adjournment. Meeting was adjourned at 8:50 Agenda posted at the Municipal Building and distributed to the Mayor and Board Members on June 15, 2016. The official current copy is available at City Hall, 400 East Military, City Planning Department Office. The Board reserves the right to go into Executive Session when necessary. A copy of the Open Meeting Law is posted at the Airport terminal building for review by the public. The Board reserves the right to adjust the order of items on this agenda.
