Library Board

October 19, 2015 Board President Larry Jirsak called the meeting to order at 3:36 p.m. in the library board room with the following members present: Larry Jirsak and Connie Schmeichel. Also present were Library Director Janet Davenport and John Hemschemeyer, Director Human Relation, City of Fremont. Board Members absent: Lori Dahl and Valeria Marquez The meeting was preceded by publicized notice in the Fremont Tribune and the agenda displayed in the municipal building, the Keene Memorial Library, online at www.fremontne.gov/library and distributed and emailed to the Library Board members on October 15, 2015 and is open to the public. A copy of the open meeting law is posted continually for public inspection and is located near the entrance to the Board Room. Lack of a quorum was noted. The meeting was continued to allow for the discussion with HR Director Hemschemeyer. Approval of Minutes: Postponed to next meeting due to lack of quorum. Unfinished business – Every Child Needs a Card – Postponed to next meeting due to lack of quorum. Library Wi Fi – 24 hour access - Director Davenport reported on her conversation with City Administrator Shotkoski, indicating he considered the library Wi-Fi a community hotspot and recommended leaving it in effect 24/7. No action taken due to lack of quorum. Replacement Library Board Member Recommendations - none New Business - Library Director Search – Discussion with John Hemschemeyer, City of Fremont Human Relations Director HR Director Hemschemeyer shared the newly revised Library Director job description with members in attendance. He described the hiring process and sought input from the members present on their thoughts on what the library needed in a new director. The position will be advertised soon with the goal of having a new director selected and in lace shortly after Director Davenport’s final day of work, December 23, 2015. Board Member Schmeichel volunteered to assist with the hiring process, reviewing applications and participating in the interview process.
