Baines III Councilmember Paul Caprioglio Councilmember Luis Chavez Councilmember Garry Bredefeld Councilmember Clinton Olivier ID18-0376 ***RESOLUTION - Opposing Assembly Bill 3218 (Subject to Mayor’s veto) Sponsors: Vice President Brandau The above item was called to order at 11:10A.M. The item was introduced to Council by Council Vice President Brandau. Upon call, the following members of the public addressed Council: Ana Jovel Melendez, Supervisor Magsig, Supervisor Borgeas, Bryn Forthen and City of Fresno ***Subject to Mayoral Veto Page 1 City Council Meeting Minutes March 8, 2018 Denise Altounian. Councilmember Baines asked Ms. Melendez if the item before Council would help the cause of what Assemblymember Arambula is trying to do and asked Council Vice President Brandau to clarify the title on the record. Councilmember Chavez asked Council Vice President Brandau is he would make changes to the title to read "supporting the operations and maintenance funding of AB3218" or to send a letter outlining what we support or have concerns with. Council Vice President Brandau agreed to the changes to the title and included to deny "the power of eminent domain." Councilmember Olivier stated he will not be supporting the item as discussed today. Councilmember Caprioglio suggested that a letter be sent instead of a resolution. Council Vice President Brandau stated he prefer to send the resolution. RESOLUTION 2018-59 ADOPTED. On motion of Vice President Brandau, seconded by Councilmember Chavez, that the above Resolution be adopted as amended. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 6 - Soria, Brandau, Baines III, Caprioglio, Chavez and Bredefeld No: 1 - Olivier City of Fresno ***Subject to Mayoral Veto Page 2
