Roll Call Present 3 - Chairperson Michael McDonald, Vice Chair Jack Tracy, and Board Member Lynda Snauffer Absent 1 - Board Member Al Smith Board Counsel, Dan McCloskey was present and represented the Board. Acting Secretary Designee, Karnell Grijalva was also present. 2. Approval of Minutes A. May 24, 2017 On motion of Board Member Snauffer, seconded by Vice Chair Tracy, the May 24, 2017 minutes were approved to form. The motion PASSED by the following vote: Aye: 3 - Chairperson McDonald, Vice Chair Tracy and Board Member Snauffer Absent: 1 - Board Member Smith At 9:07am the meeting convened to Closed Session 3. New Business A. Closed Session - Continued Public Discipline/Dismissal/Release [Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954] City of Fresno ***Subject to Mayoral Veto Page 1 Civil Service Board Meeting Minutes July 6, 2017 City of Fresno Deputy Chief Robert Nevarez and Senior Counsel Steve Cikes c/o Renne Sloan Holtzman Sakai, Public Law Group was present on behalf of the Appointing Authority. Appellant representative, Attorney at Law Roger Wilson was present on behalf of the Appellant. The respective Civil Service Board Hearing on Appeal was scheduled for August 17th and August 18th of 2017. B. Schedule Meeting(s) to Conduct a Public Employee Discipline Appeal Hearing [Pursuant to Fresno Municipal Code Section 3-284] City of Fresno Deputy Chief Robert Nevarez and Deputy City Attorney, Jennifer DeRuosi was present on behalf of the Appointing Authority. Attorney at Law Tony Silva c/o Goyette & Associates, Inc. was present on behalf of the Appellant. The respective Civil Service Hearing on Appeal was scheduled for September 20, 2017. 4. Old Business A. Closed Session - Continued Public Discipline/Dismissal/Release [Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954] On motion of Board Member Snauffer, seconded by Vice Chair Tracy, that the Decision, Findings and Order Dismissing Appeal be approved. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 3 - Chairperson McDonald, Vice Chair Tracy and Board Member Snauffer Absent: 1 - Board Member Smith Deputy City Attorney Jennifer DeRuosi was present on behalf of the Appointing Authority. The Appellant and/or Representative was absent. 5. Hearing on Appeal A. The Appellant and Representative, Attorney at Law, Roger Wilson were also present. Appointing Authority Representative, Joseph Rubin and Appellant Representative, Roger Wilson, reported to the Board that the parties have come to a verbal Resolution subject to a forthcoming Agreement in writing via letter addressed to the Board Secretary dismissing the appeal with prejudice. 6.
