Roll Call Present 4 - Vice Chair Jack Tracy, Chair Michael McDonald, Board Member Julian Montalvo, and Board Member Linda Moreno Board Counsel, Dan McCloskey, was present and represented the Board. Also present were Acting Secretary Designee, Karnell Grijalva, Court Reporter, Gail Loquaci-Weber, and Paralegal, Paul Coleman. 2. Approval of Minutes A. June 30, 2020 On motion of Vice Chair Tracy, seconded by Board Member Moreno, that the June 30, 2020 minutes be approved. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 4 - Vice Chair Tracy, Chair McDonald, Board Member Montalvo and Board Member Moreno At 9:05 AM the Board convened into Closed Session 3. New Business A. Schedule Meeting(s) to conduct a Public Employee Discipline Appeal Hearing [Pursuant to Fresno Municipal Code Section 3-284] City of Fresno ***Subject to Mayoral Veto Page 1 Civil Service Board Meeting Minutes September 14, 2020 Deputy City Attorney III, Stephanie Snyder, was present on behalf of the Appointing Authority. Labor Representative, Tony Silva, was present on behalf of the Appellant. The Hearing on Appeal was scheduled for December 1, 2020. 4. Old Business A. Closed Session - Continued Public Employee Discipline/Dismissal/Release [Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954] The Hearing on Appeal commenced at 9:09 AM. Present on behalf of the Appointing Authority were: Attorney at Law, James Betts, Assistant City Attorney, Christina Roberson and Paralegal, Paul Coleman. Present on behalf of the Appellant were: The Appellant, Attorney at Law, Gary Goyette, and Rachel E. Simons. Witnesses were sequestered and the reading of the Order was waived by the parties. Exhibits of evidence were presented during testimony and they were filed and moved into the record. At 3:35 PM all parties agreed to reconvene at 9:00 AM, September 15, 2020, to continue the Hearing on Appeal. The Board reconvened into Open session. Board Counsel announced decisions of the Board from Closed session in accordance with the Brown Act. 5. Unscheduled Public Communications None 6.
