Member Reports and Comments Vice Chair Potter shared that she has been working with the state Office of Emergency Services and the CDSS doing trainings. United Learning Foundation (ULF) is launching a new Compassionate Vendor Program (CVP) which will train and certify local businesses who have been trained by ULF and add those businesses to the CVP registry list. Currently the website is in development and she is working on the trademark for the CVP logo. Member Flores shared that Central Valley Regional Center (CVRC) Director Robert Riddick will be retiring in May/June, so they are starting a nationwide City of Fresno *Subject to mayoral veto Page 2 Disability Advisory Meeting Minutes - Final December 9, 2014 Commission search. Chair Pitt shared that CSU Fresno will be holding a conference on February 28, 2015 on the intersection of race, gender, and mental health. They are currently accepting presentation proposals. 4. Secretary's Report Secretary Mulhall introduced Ken Elvington, who has been appointed by the Mayor to the DAC. His appointment is scheduled to be confirmed by council on December 18, 2014. Secretary Mulhall shared that the Fresno Police Department offered training for their officers and staff on Mental Illnesses which she recently had the opportunity to sit in on. It was highly informative and will be very beneficial to the department. 5. Unscheduled Communication / Public Comments The following member(s) of the public spoke to the DAC about items not on the agenda: Jan Joaquin of Joni and Friends shared that their Summit, which was held on 10/24/14-10/25/14 and featured keynote speaker Joni Earekson Tada, was successful. 6. Action Items 6-A ID#14-642 Legistar Agenda Review This item will be heard on January 13, 2015. CONTINUED 6-B ID#14-647 2015 Meeting Schedule The 2015 DAC meeting will be held on second Tuesday of each month with no meetings in July and November. An amendment was made to hold the August meeting the first week of the month, on August 8, 2015. Presentations 7-A ID#14-641 ADA Title II Overview Secretary Mulhall provided the DAC with an overview of the common items that appear on the Department of Justice (DOJ) Project Civic Access (PCA) settlements along with how the City of Fresno is measuring up to the settlement requirements. In the upcoming year presentations will be provided that go into more detail on specific aspects. 8. Subcommittee Reports 8-A Outreach Subcommittee Appointed to this committee are Chair Pitt, Member Flores, and Member Reyes Acosta. No action was taken on this agenda item. Mulhall reported that funding had been identified for the missing portion of the sidewalk between The Arc and CVRC to be constructed. Construction will be completed before the end of the fiscal year. 8-B Transportation Subcommittee Appointed to this subcommittee are Members Duarte and Reyes Acosta, FAX Assistant Director Schaad, FAX Operations Manager Elizabeth Watlington, and community members Bill Hyatt. Transportation subcommittee meetings will be held quarterly in 2015 in January, April, August, and October, coinciding with the dates of the regular DAC meetings. Member Duarte reported that there have been staffing changes at Handy Ride, with the Operations Manager retiring. Currently they are reviewing ADA requirements with Handy Ride dispatchers. Additional vehicles are continuing to be added to the Handy Ride fleet. The department anticipates that the Triennial Federal Transit Authority (FTA) audit will commence in April 2015. City of Fresno *Subject to mayoral veto Page 4 Disability Advisory Meeting Minutes - Final December 9, 2014 Commission ID#14-648 Transportation Subcommittee Recommendation Letter Approval of the draft transportation recommendation letter will be continued to the next meeting once the Transportation Subcommittee has finalized it.
