MINUTES
REGULAR SESSION
1. Call to Order/Roll Call
Chair Mike Zapata called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. A quorum was
present and the agenda was properly posted.
Board Members Present: Chair Mike Zapata, Vice Chair Marc Kirkland,
Secretary Phil Ramirez, Board Member Loren Sauer (arrived at 6:45
p.m.) and Board Member Lee Shearer
Staff Present: Manager of Parks Services, Bob Johnson

CONSENT AGENDA
3. Consider and act upon approval of the Minutes from the August 25, 2010
Regular Urban Forestry Board (UFB) Meeting.
Marc Kirkland moved to approve the Minutes from the August 25, 2010 Regular
Urban Forestry Board (UFB) Meeting. Lee Shearer seconded the Motion.
Motion carried. Vote: 4-0.
4. Taychas Trail Tree Identification Tour.
Marc Kirkland made a motion to recess for the tree tour. Phil Ramirez
seconded the Motion. Motion carried. Vote: 5-0.
The Board and guests went on a 45 minute tree tour along the Taychas Trail
and identified 27 different tree species.
After the tour, Marc Kirkland made a motion to reconvene. Loren Sauer
seconded the Motion. Motion carried. Vote: 5-0.
5. Final discussion regarding the 2010 Arborfest Celebration.
Bob Johnson told the Board he would e-mail the members a tentative program
agenda for the 2010 Arborfest Celebration and they could make corrections or
additions if needed. All members said they would be attending. Mike Zapata
informed the Board that his daughter’s Girl Scout troop would be participating
and would remain at the park during the Barktoberfest to man an UFB display
table. Marc Kirkland added that he had contacted the YMCA about
participating. Bob Johnson said he would contact the Boys and Girls Club.
REGULAR AGENDA
6. Miscellaneous discussion and future agenda items.
Bob Johnson thanked Robert, Tammy, John and Brad for attending the tree
tour.
The members all agreed that a future meeting and tree tour should be
conducted at the Caddo Trail, located within the Chapel Creek subdivision.
Mike Zapata reminded the Board that the October meeting would begin at 8:30
a.m., immediately preceding the Arborfest Celebration.

Marc moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:45 p.m. Lee Shearer seconded the Motion.
Motion carried. Vote: 5-0.

and purposes:

§ 551.072 – Discussing purchase, exchange, lease or value of real property.
§ 551.074 – Discussing personnel or to hear complaints against personnel.

Pursuant to City of Frisco Ordinance Number 01-04-29 all speakers other than City of Frisco Staff are limited to five (5) minutes per
item except by prior consent of the Urban Forestry Board.
