Fruita Arts and Culture Board Meeting January 15, 2025 Call to order 5:35 pm Present: Marc Mancuso, Andrea Downs, Carlee Burnett, Leona Manuppella, Meghan Reker, Andrew Schlechten, Carrie Burnett Absent: Philip Carlton, Allie Daniel Call to order 5:35 Motion to approve minutes form December Meghan second Carrie Public comments and participation special guests, artists in residence visiting. Cocovino update Philip should be reaching out to vendors since he has connections. Marc ordered glasses we have 120 total. Flyers in progress, Megan and Andrea working on it and looking great. Stained glass piece for silent auction- by February 7th. Donation jar? Made maybe $150 last year but cash is cash. Pricing at $35 should be a good pricing for entry. Liquor license together just needs submitted. Don’t need to go before city council. Last two years had pp and j play, do we want again? Charged $300-400. Aj suggested Justin Russel. May be $100 more and space may be a hiccup but good to change things up. Enstroms toffee and chocolate. Food is in the works, deciding best method but is taken care of. Meghan will be putting together for instagram post. Posters should be pushed out first week of February once everything is finalized. Tables and linens we have, may want to check if we need to wash linens but should be fine. FCC Artist Voting on artist for community center. Eric Patrick Kelly, Lindsey, or Randy George. March to April equality posters are coming out, so we can do one short one displaying before that and a new one after or they have to bring back. Thought: Randy for about a month, Fruita for equality, then Eric for 3 months then Lindsay for 3 months. Andrea motion to approve aj seconds. Portrait project photographer selected, is out for a bit with a new baby. Document open so members can add people to interview. Work in progress project, getting things together but no rush. Valley of the arts exhibition both nights had 20 local artists, silent auction with artists keeping their sales. Cheeseboards, drinks, musicians, food trucks, presentations and remarks. First night had highest attendance and bids. Second night there were events elsewhere, likely why it was less attendance. 111 tickets sold $3,095. Sold 7 artworks around $2,600. Donated 10% to art heritage. Overall profit, but want to spend less on bands, overall simplify and limit to one night to remove need for insurance. Fruita seems to be a Friday night event town and lazy state at home Saturdays. Lots of at the door sales. Mural fest we are wanted to take over control of mural fest. We have 4th fridays starting may, cocovino, and chalk fest. This event normally happens during fall fest. If we want to do this, we need to be prepared and commit. Last years are installed at the skate park. Combine this with pastels in the park? Paint the park? Last year there were issues with mural jam but now they are interested in collaborating. They could also take it over, allow them to expand and take some weight off of us. They have been doing mural jam for about 13 years in mesa county. Agreed it would be a great idea and we want to reach out to them. Don’t bite off more than we can chew!! Do a few really good things, not lots of mediocre things. Back to cocovino Band update mid meeting, Justin is busy. Other ideas: Stray Grass (probably out of budget), super fox… Need to work on sponsors to get more funds as well. Chamber newsletter? Otocast audio based tour solutions, wanna do this for Fruita. People can cancan QR codes for artworks and have an overview and information on art. Would be an awesome way to let people interact with art and learn more. Will be sending out the information to check out.
