Town Commission Agenda Results Tuesday, April 17, 2018 7:00 PM Location: 401 Old Honeycutt Road, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526 BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS – REGULAR MEETING 1. Call to Order – Mayor John W. Byrne 2. Invocation & Pledge of Allegiance – Commissioner Marilyn Gardner led the Pledge of Allegiance and Police Chief Fahnestock provided the invocation. 3. Approval of the minutes for the April 2, 2018 Regular Town Board meeting. – Approved (5-0) 4. Presentations: A. Recognition of North Carolina Main Street Champion 2018 – Keri Zollo of Carolina Monogram & Company Mayor Byrne recognized Keri Zollo, owner of Carolina Monogram & Company located on Broad Street in the Varina District, who was named North Carolina Main Street Champion of 2018. 5. Public Comments – No one from the audience chose to address the Town Board. Public Hearings: 6A. Voluntary Annexation Petition – Barbara S. Cummings & Royal Mark David King Property (Royal Creek) - 8020 Daddy Road, 7700 Ten Road, 7512 Ten Road, 0 Gelder Drive and 0 Daddy Road - ANX-2017-14 The purpose of this agenda item was to consider an annexation ordinance extending the corporate limits of the Town of Fuquay-Varina following receipt of a petition for voluntary annexation of property owned by Barbara S. Cummings and Royal Mark David King located at 8020 Daddy Road, 7700 Ten Ten Road, 7512 Ten Ten Road, 0 Gelder Drive and 0 Daddy Road, containing approximately 66.317 acres - ANX-2017-14. (Approved 5-0) Ordinance No. N-18-14 6B. Voluntary Annexation Petition - Calvary Baptist Temple Church - 7900 Ten Ten Road - ANX-2017-22 The purpose of this agenda item was to continue the public hearing and consider an annexation ordinance extending the corporate limits of the Town of Fuquay- Varina following receipt of a petition for voluntary annexation of property owned by Calvary Baptist Temple Church located at 7900 Ten Ten Road, containing 0.721 acres. (Approved 5-0) Ordinance No. N-18-15 6C. Voluntary Annexation Petition - Maxine Senter Heirs/Barbara S. Cummings (Cambridge/Royal Oaks) - 7700 and 7512 Ten Ten Road - ANX-2018-01 The purpose of this agenda item was to consider an annexation ordinance extending the corporate limits of the Town of Fuquay-Varina following receipt of a petition for voluntary annexation of property owned by Maxine Senter Heirs and Barbara S. Cummings, located at 7700 and 7512 Ten Ten Road, containing approximately 2.507 acres. (Approved 5-0) Ordinance No. N-18-16 6D. Zoning Map Amendment - Cambridge Properties - 8020 Daddy Road, 0 Daddy Road, 0 Gelder Drive, 7700 Ten Ten Road, and 7512 Ten Ten Road - REZ-2017-18 The purpose of this agenda item is to continue the public hearing and consider a requested zoning map amendment for a total of 66.26 acres, located at 8020 Daddy Road, 7700 Ten Ten Road, 7512 Ten Ten Road, 0 Gelder Drive, and 0 Daddy Road, from Wake County Zoning District R-30 to the Residential Mixed-Use (RMU), Neighborhood Mixed-Use (NMU) and Urban Mixed-Use (UMU) Zoning Districts. – The Town Board motioned to table this matter until May 22, 2018. Town Code Amendment - Land Development Ordinance (LDO) Clean-Up Amendment #4 - CTA-2018-02 - (FIRST READING) TOWN BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS Mayor Pro-Tem Massengill stated that he rode with a Fuquay-Varina Police officer to get a feel of the scope of their work and reported that he learned a lot as the Police Officers are extremely busy. Commissioner Adcock had no comments. Commissioner Harris medical absence. Commissioner Wunsch stated that he and his daughter enjoyed Teen Day. He also Congratulated Commissioner Gardner for the big award that she won at the Dinner on Depot event. He further stated that the downtown concert was well attended. Commissioner Gardner stated that she had the opportunity to see one of the Town grants at work at the “Taste of Success” event at the Fuquay-Varina Middle School. The students came up with a project for a food repository for people in need for the summer. She stated that the new venue at Falcon Park for the Teen Day event gave it a community feel. She also enjoyed the “Dinner on Depot” event. Mayor Byrne reported on the following: Past Events 4/7 – Spoke at Bazzel Creek Missionary Baptist Church Ground Breaking Ceremony 4/13 – Attended the Steering Committee Wake County Health 4/14 – Attended Dinner on Depot Street 3/16 – Attended the Wake County Mayor’s Association Up Coming Events 4/18 – Attending CAMPO meeting 4/20 – Ribbon cutting Holleman’s Crossing Boat Ramp 4/27 – Attending Jonathan Cox Graduation from Institute of Government Mayor Byrne also stated that former first lady Barbara Bush passed away today at age 92 and extended his condolences. He then recognized students from the Chamber’s Leadership course who were in attendance. CLOSED SESSION – Pursuant to N.C.G.S. §143-318.11(a)(3) – Attorney/Client Privilege and pursuant to N.C.G.S. §143-318-11(a)(4) Economic Development.
