A. CALL TO ORDER - Invocation, Pledge of Allegiance, Roll Call
Gahanna City Council met in Regular Session on Monday, August 18,
2014, in Council Chambers of City Hall, 200 South Hamilton Road,
Gahanna, Ohio. President of Council Brian D. Larick called the
meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Vice President of Council Kneeland
delivered an Invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by
Council Member Angelou. Agenda for this meeting was published on
August 15, 2014.
Present 7 - Karen J. Angelou, Ryan P. Jolley, Thomas R. Kneeland, Brian D. Larick,
Jamie Leeseberg, Stephen A. Renner, and Michael Schnetzer
B. ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO THE AGENDA - None.
C. HEARING OF VISITORS -
1. Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Board of Franklin County (ADAMH)
Presentation
Susan Kaylor, Chief Administrative Officer, was present to discuss the
services they offer; handed out brochures and updated directories;
they are appointed by Board of Planning Commissioners; local
planning funding and supported by local tax levies; role in community
to plan for public funding; completing first county wide needs
assessment; last one was 7 years; to figure out needs of the
community; she submitted presentation (attached) which gives funding
overview; vast majority is local levy; thank everyone for their support;
provide housing; job training; provided service to 23,000 residents;
promote adults and youth; grateful for Gahanna; planned with
Gahanna Jefferson Schools; contracting services with schools; long
history dealing with youth and adolescence; services launched in
every single suburb; will be servicing all schools in Gahanna; offering
a variety of prevention and intervention; invested $850,000 serving
425 people; one in four Americans experience mental and/or addiction

issues; only recover when they have treatment; spend a good bit of
time out in the community; support group files; will continue to help
and provide more directories to get out to the community; thanked
everyone for their time.

ORD-0114-2014 TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT WITH
NICKOLAS SAVKO & SONS FOR REPLACEMENT OF WATERLINE

FORK; IMPROVEMENT NO. ST 1023; TO WAIVE THE FORMAL

Kneeland said next meeting is tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m. at City
Hall.

Angelou said they do not meet until September.

Jolley said they met last Wednesday and discussed how to press
forward on initiatives.
Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) - Jolley
Jolley said in last month alone had five tour groups and two more
scheduled; getting a lot of business and investment; had last meeting
at Jorgensen Farms in their barn; have a lot of beautiful space; grow a
lot of produce; provides wedding ceremonies and receptions; generate
a lot of great business; tours visit the farm; CVB has new website; a lot
of great features; will send link when it's up and running; waiting on
final numbers on Creekside; despite the loss of AEP; ended up raising
more money than last year; held first volunteer thank you picnic; had
prizes and great show of appreciation of volunteers; excellent job
especially by Laurie Jadwin; car show was a success; bed tax revenue
is up for the year; been a good year for the CVB overall; really happy
with what is going on.
M. OFFICIAL REPORTS:
Mayor
Stinchcomb said everyone is working on budget; administration is
working hard to get appropriations to Council earlier this year;
administration is working hard to provide pool data to Council; history
and operations information; bring possible scenarios to try and keep
pools open to Council at the next Committee of the Whole; Saturday is
the Great American Duck Race in Gahanna; fundraiser; 100% goes to
Nationwide Childrens Hospital; great cause; hopefully it brings a lot of
business to Creekside on Saturday morning; she will be there
cheering on the ducks.
City Attorney

N. COUNCIL COMMENT
Leeseberg said school is back in session; be safe driving; watch out
for children.
Angelou commended Development Director Anthony Jones for article
in Business First titled "People to Know"; she is very proud of him for
what he accomplishes for the City of Gahanna; nice to see Jennifer
Chrysler acknowledged in CEO Magazine as Outstanding Women in
New Albany; she's a resident and former employee of the City; nice to

see people honored for all that they do for the community.
Larick said keep an eye out for children's safety; watch your speed.
