Rebecca McBride-Smith, 307 Rivers End Road said she and her husband settled in Gahanna because it was close to work and they found a house they liked. She shared that she didn't feel that she had a connection with the City until she saw signs about 2 years ago for an Arts Council event called Ignite. She said she stayed in Gahanna that night and learned at that event that, even if you don't consider you're an artist, we all do things that are incredibly creative every day, even if it is cooking for your family. That night at Ignite was when she began to feel a stronger sense of place in Gahanna. She said that the arts aren't what we do but how we do it and that she loves that the GAAC exists for the community and celebrates everyone in it, not just artists. They believe anyone can have a meaningful connection to the arts. She feels that she is a more thoughtful and engaged member of the community because of her City of Gahanna Page 1 City Council Meeting Minutes December 2, 2019 involvement with the Arts Council. She continued, 2 years ago, she got off the couch and went to an Art's Council event and that one night transformed her entire experience of living in Gahanna but the great thing is that if the community decides to support the arts, anyone can have the experience she had which is a powerful thing. It can change people's lives and transform the City of Gahanna. D. INTRODUCTIONS AND ASSIGNMENT TO COMMITTEE: Vice President Renner introduced the items in Section D.
