ITEMS - From Director of Finance 1. Sustainability Planning Schnetzer called to the Finance meeting for Monday, August 11, 2014 to order; said our agenda item is sustainability planning. Collins said Teal and I talked about our time line; did make an adjustment; there have been a number of conversations about items on the one time capital list as well as the overall processes involved with the list; in recognition of that we are going to do more preparation; we are bumping the one time capital discussion to August 25; talk about categories, priorities, how that relates; also provide some information on the pools and where the Administration is on the pool operation since that was one of the biggest questions on the list; the rest of the process stays the same; we adjusted the dates for the appropriation discussion which is on the back page. Schnetzer said question about real estate list; last query it was still a work in progress; would like to request an update on what we have compiled so far. Collins said we can bring the updated list to that City of Gahanna Page 1 Finance Committee Meeting Minutes August 11, 2014 meeting. Larick said does it need to wait 2 weeks. Collins said no I can email it out ahead of time; know that it is a draft. Larick said there has been a number of Kaizen events; very focused on process improvement; have you been involved with any of those. Collins said I have done one with the foundation and one within our department; Teal is working with the Development Department looking at a specific portion of the final development process; she also did one in her department with billing; at 4 to 5 done internally now. Larick said I would rather have a formal discussion on this, but my interest is in understanding the improvements from these actions. Collins said we can come back with information on the processes, steps removed, and the efficiency we reported out of it. Jones said our department is preparing a summary sheet; finishing that up now; our intent to show all of that. Recommendation: Back to Finance Committee on August 25, 2014.
