CALL MEETING TO ORDER Jane Allinder, Chair called the meeting of the Landscape Board to order on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 6:00pm at Gahanna City Hall. B. ROLL CALL Winger was absent for Roll Call; arrived 6:03pm. Present 4 - Mark DiGiando, Melissa Hyde, Kevin Dengel , and Jane Allinder Absent 1 - Matt Winger C. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion was made by Dengel, seconded by DiGiando, to approve the minutes from the April 25, 2017 Landscape Board meeting. Motion carried with the following vote: Yes: 4- DiGiando, Dengel, Allinder and Winger Abstain: 1- Hyde 2017-0161 LB minutes 4-25-2017 D. ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO THE AGENDA None E. HEARING OF VISITORS None F. OLD BUSINESS City of Gahanna Page 1 Landscape Board Meeting Minutes August 7, 2017 i. Pollinator Initiatives Barr introduced staff members Brooke Sackenheim, Herb Center Director and Shannon Barnett, Horticulture Coordinator. Sackenheim and Barnett updated the Board on the Pollinator Initiative that are moving forward in the Parks and with homeowners. There is the Mayor's Monarch Pledge, which is part of the National Wildlife Federation. The pledge is to increase habitat for pollinator and Monarch specifically. The City applied for and was accepted into the Initiative. Through the Herb Society of America the City has applied for the GreenBridges Initiative. The GreenBridges Initiative helps create opportunities for the safe passage of plants and pollinator. The application has been completed and submitted. The City has also applied for the Ohio Pollinator Habitat Initiative, which is through the US Fish and Wildlife that serves the State of Ohio. The Initiative is to increase pollinator conservation through outreach and education. This is a no cost program. The City hopes to be a model for other communities that are looking to increase their pollinator community. The last program is Bee City USA, which is based of of Tree City USA. The program is to increase pollinator awareness and habitat. The application process has been started. There will be initiative information in the next Gateway and on the new City web site. The City Engineers Office is having information workshops for homeowners on how they can be a part of the initiatives. G. NEW BUSINESS None H.
