RESOLUTION NO. R2AN.65
RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF SIA GRANT FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF
THREE INTERSECTIONS FOR ACCESS TO THE
CITY OF GALLATIN INDUSTRIAL PARK
WHEREAS' THE CITY OF GALLATIN, TENNESSEE, is vitally interested in the
economic welfare of its citizens and wishes to provide the necessary leadership to enhance
this area's capabilities for growth and development, and
WHEREAS, the provision ofjobs to area citizens by local industry is both necessary
and vitalto the economic well-being of the City of Gallatin, and
WHEREAS, the Industrial Highway Act of 1959 authorizes the Tennessee Department
of Transportation to contract with cities and counties for the construction and maintenance
of ,,Industrial Highways" to provide access to industrial areas and to facilitate the
development and expansion of industry within the State of Tennessee, and
WHEREAS, Facebook plans to construct a manufacturing facility in the City of
Gallatin, and
WHEREAS, the construction of industrial access road improvements to serve said
proposed facility is necessary and vitalto the successful completion of this project and the
future economic well-being of this area,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Gallatin, that a contract be
entered into with the Tennessee Department of Transportation for assistance in
construction and completion of the herein proposed industrial access highway
improvements under the provisions of the Industrial Highway Act of 1959'

State Industrial Access Grant Application
SUMMARY:
The City of Gallatin would like approval from the Council to pursue a State Industrial Access (SIA)
Grant for improvements to three intersections related to Industrial Center access' TDOT has
indicated it would fund an SIA grant to widen the intersection of Airport Road and U.S. Hwy 31,
and the intersection of Airport Road and Hartsville Pike. TDOT also indicated it would fund
the
addition of a traffic signal at Airport Road and Gateway Drive. Most of the project would be funded
100%by TDOT. Mori detail will be provided at the Council Committee Meeting.
