The surface paving will begin as soon as weather permits. City hopes to complete the surfacing project by June. Lexington Hotel status update by Interim City Manager: City is working to secure operating funds beyond March 2025 RMCH update: State of New Mexico Legislature approved $5 million + for RMCH. Family and Medical Leave legislation update: the bill did not pass. Effort will be made to revise the bill and resubmit during the 2025 Legislative session. Lighted Streetliner project plan is for installing the Streetliner during Spring 2024 NM Vulnerable Road User “safety assessment” and NMDOT Strategic Highway Safety Plan USDA Rural Business Development Grants: This program is designed to provide technical assistance and training for small rural businesses. Small means that the business has fewer than 50 new workers and less than $1 million in gross revenue. Agency Name: Rural Business-Cooperative Service Description: The purpose of the program is to promote economic development and job creation projects through the awarding of grant funds to eligible entities. Applications will compete in two separate categories, business opportunity grants and business enterprise grants, for use in funding various business and community projects that serve rural areas. City Council will hire a recruiting firm to obtain a new City Manager. Interim CM J DeYoung will remain while search takes place. Beautification/Signage Rex Museum neon sign and City Parking neon sign restorations are scheduled to be completed and signs reinstalled in late February or early March 4. Security None this month 5. Events Gallup Main Street Arts & Cultural District will again request BID downtown event marketing reimbursement grant for Levitt AMP Music Concert Series, which will continue next year. First Arts Crawl event in 2024 will take place on April 13 Car show planning meetings 6. Economic Development Telephone meetings with MEP related entrepreneurs Broadband I-40 Corridor Study Usda is offering funding support for commercial property owners to bring buildings up to code. Discussions with Spencer Jones and Shane LeMon at American Apparisal firm Route 66 parking issues and NM DOT Safety Plan NM Bio-Science Authority meeting will be held on February 28 at NM Spaceport Meeting with Peter Kahn at Keishi Foundation for Zuni art and Zart Gallery Meeting with Laura Ippel, Executive Director at Play-Sharity Gallup to discuss plan to secure a building in the BID district for children’s museum. Creative Industries Program: budget approved by 2024 Legislature. Funds will be used to create and manage creative programs. That planning will be used for the 2025 legislative funding request, to fund the programs developed during 2024. A list of qualifying Arts activities is included with this agenda, as Attachment A. 7.
