City of Galt Agenda 610 CHABOLLA AVENUE, GALT, CA Thursday, June 27, 2024 10:00 AM Chairperson: Libby Robbins Vice Chair: VACANT Commissioners: Phyllis Johnson, Dennis McCall, Brendan Moore, Joan Werblun, Call Meeting to Order – Roll Call: Libby Robbins(Absent), Phyllis Johnson, Dennis McCall, Brendan Moore, Joan Werblun, Advisor: Monica Lopez – Parks & Recreation Public Comment: Under Government Code Section 54954.3, members of the audience may address the Commission on any item of interest to the public or any agenda item before or during the Commission's consideration of the item. Speakers shall restrict their comments to issues that are within the subject matter authority of the Commission and limit comments to a maximum of five (5) minutes. Acceptance of Minutes: Meeting of May 23, 2024 A. New Business: 1. Bingo Suggestion Box (Johnson) Look into healthier options and discuss the budget to do so in next meeting. 2. Storytelling for Seniors (Moore) /Thursdays Activities, Bm to Reach out to Sacramento Storytelling and see if they would provide services for free. Also to check with library for any story telling services they may provide. 3. Upgrade of Phone for GSRC (McCall)ML will be in contact with Verizon to find the best pricing for a phone with hotspot for GSRC. 4. More Activities for Seniors (Robbins) If anything Is discussed and decided during Monday’s special meeting it must be sent to ML Via email to be properly documented. B. Old Business: 1. Bus Trips for Seniors to Casinos Update Date for pickup at our location is set for 8/1. ML to send out information and BM to create and monitor list to make sure to not over fill bus. PJ request to reserve first 2 handicap spots. 2. Bingo DM looking into new tv stand looking for best prices to discuss at future meeting. 3. Senior Resource Fair JW looking at possible dates in august, Must check with P&R office soon to make sure dates are open. Planning on multiple presentations. Commissioners’ Reports: Chair L. Robbins: Commissioner P. Johnson: any food served at Monday bingo not to compete with meals being served at MOW. Commissioner D. McCall: GSRC to come in on a Friday to clean and rearrange office. Commissioner B. Moore: Reaching out/ looking into grants or future funding. Commissioner J. Werblun: Legal aid, galt issues with seniors and sustainability.
