Speakers shall restrict their comments to issues that are within the subject matter authority of the Commission and limit comments to a maximum of five (5) minutes. Acceptance of Minutes: Meeting of April 25, 2024 (motion to approve PJ, Seconded JW – all in favor0 A. New Business: B. Old Business: 1. Bus Trips for Seniors to Casinos Update Commissioner Johnson has been in communication with Red Hawk. They may be able to provide free bus transportation to Red Hawk on 6/13 for 34 seniors (2 wheelchairs access needed). Waiting for confirmation from Red Hawk to proceed with promoting event to seniors. 2. Senior CPR Classes/Tour of CSD Fire Station Thursday 5/23 Happening today in the Chabolla Community Center. 3. Bingo Commissioner McCall indicated that many items have been donated for Bingo, but that they are not suitable as gifts. Commission voted to donate items to local charitable organizations. (DM, JW -all in favor). Monica Lopez has looked in to getting a Hot Spot for the COA to help with connectivity issues that occur during the Bingo games. Verizon can offer $27.25 for the device with $39/month. COA would like Ms. Lopez to check with Verizon regarding upgrading their current phone to include a hot spot. 4. Senior Resource Fair Commissioner Werblun has met with Kat from the Chamber to start planning for a possible event. Would like to invite many organizations and groups that support or are designated for seniors. No date or time has been chosen. Event would likely be at the Chabolla Community Center and could include the P&R offices, classrooms an outdoor areas around the building. Commissioners’ Reports: Chair L. Robbins: Commissioner P. Johnson: Has been working with LAPD (?) a Sacramento County Committee. They are planning a community outreach meeting at the P&R classrooms in July. More information to follow. Commissioner D. McCall: GSRC is being rearranged and organized. There is left over ice cream social supplies, if anyone would like them. Commissioner B. Moore: GSRC has a wall of information that needs to be updated. Center is not highly visited. Some 4 hour shifts only result in 1 call, at times. Commissioner J. Werblun: Has met with the City Manager and some from Galt Place. Would like to call a Closed Session Meeting prior to the next meeting to discuss.
