City of Galt MINUTES 610 CHABOLLA AVENUE, GALT, CA Thursday, July 25, 2024 10:00 AM Chairperson: Libby Robbins Vice Chair: VACANT Commissioners: Phyllis Johnson, Dennis McCall, Brendan Moore, Joan Werblun Call Meeting to Order – 10:01AM Roll Call: Libby Robbins, Phyllis Johnson (Tardy), Dennis McCall, Brendan Moore, Joan Werblun Advisor: Monica Lopez – Parks & Recreation Public Comment: Under Government Code Section 54954.3, members of the audience may address the Commission on any item of interest to the public or any agenda item before or during the Commission's consideration of the item. Speakers shall restrict their comments to issues that are within the subject matter authority of the Commission and limit comments to a maximum of five (5) minutes. Acceptance of Minutes: Meeting of June 27, 2024 BM made motion to accept the minutes of the June 27 Commission on Aging meeting, all in favor with LR abstaining A. New Business: 1. PRESENTATION: Senior Resource Fair, Kat Seabolt (Galt Chamber) 9/26/2024 9:00 am set up and 9:30 am start Senior Resource Fair held in Chabolla Center with smaller presentations in Moran/Biederman and the California conference room. Move next COA meeting to 9/19/2024 2. Thursday Senior Event Speaker (Johnson) 9/19/2024 Tod Noble Cyber Crime/Security presentation to start 12:00pm 3. Commission on Aging Annual Report September 17th City Council Meeting (Lopez) LR prepare report and turn in to ML no later than 9/3/2024. PJ and BM to present the report on the 9/17/2024 City Council Meeting. B. Old Business: 1. Bus Trips for Seniors to Casinos Update Sign-up Sheet filled with some on the stand by list. GSRC to call and confirm/remind people on list. BM to donate pastries/donuts at 8:30 am bus to leave 9am sharp. 2. Bingo -Averaging 70 people. -DM Waiting on pricing of TV stand for possible donation instead. -LR donating fans to help keep Chabolla cool until air conditioning gets updated. 3. Senior Resource Fair Please see A. New Business: 1. Presentations from (Galt Chamber.) 4. Bingo Suggestion Box (Johnson) PJ went over budget for healthy food options. LR motions to increase food budget to $200.00 a week DM seconds all in favor. Still $100.00 for gifts/prizes. 5. Storytelling for Seniors (Moore) No Update add to next Agenda. 6. Upgrade of Phone for GSRC ML in contact with Verizon to get new phone set up. 7. More Activities for Seniors (Robbins) COA to advertise possible more senior activities to more than just bingo attendees. to do so reach out to Matthew with the Galt Herald ML to send over to get it advertised on city websites and Facebook page.  LR BM chair and co-chair for future planning committee of future senior events. Commissioners’ Reports: Chair L. Robbins: Thank you to everyone for their contributions. Commissioner P. Johnson: now on Sacramento County Local Aging & Disability-Friendly Action Plan Advisory Committee (LADAP) They meet on Zoom. Commissioner D. McCall: GSRC email has been updated to be shorter galtsrc@gmail.com (AED) update: LR reached out to get replacement from fire department is waiting on response. Commissioner B. Moore: Add storytelling to (more senior activities) Commissioner J. Werblun: Providing more housing resources for the SRC to provide. 9/17/2024 Car show (Historic Soc.)
