City of Galt COMMISSION ON AGING MINUTES 610 CHABOLLA AVENUE, GALT, CA Thursday, April 24, 2025 10:00 AM Chairperson: Joan Werblun Vice Chair: Phyllis Johnson Commissioners: Dennis McCall, Brendan Moore, Libby Robbins Call Meeting to Order – 10:00 am Roll Call: Phyllis Johnson, Dennis McCall, Brendan Moore, Libby Robbins, Joan Werblun Advisor: Monica Lopez – Parks & Recreation Public Comment: Under Government Code Section 54954.3, members of the audience may address the Commission on any item of interest to the public or any agenda item before or during the Commission's consideration of the item. Speakers shall restrict their comments to issues that are within the subject matter authority of the Commission and limit comments to a maximum of five (5) minutes. Acceptance of Minutes: Meeting of March 27, 2025 B. Moore motioned, D. McCall Seconded the motion. All in favor. Presentation: A. New Business: 1. Senior Exercise/Walking Circuits (McCall) to be held once a month same day every month and change locations McCall to create a schedule. 2. Benches around the City (McCall) McCall to look in to it. A. Old Business: 1. Bingo (All) 75-80 people weekly 2. Bingo Procedures and Protocols (McCall/Robbins); D McCall and L Robins working on Bingo procedure as well as looking at donations , presentations and sales 3. SMUD Pop Up Event – Enrolling in low income programs, etc. (ALL) L. Robbins will schedule with smudd waiting for response from smudd rep. Pop up event is to sign people up for assistance programs. Event will last 2-4 hours. 4. GSRC (McCall) No Update. 5. Activities for Seniors (Moore/Robbins) - 6. Bus Trips for Seniors to Casinos Update (Robbins/Johnson) Director Solis  Can we charge? J. Werblun spoke with council member Farmer regarding getting COA info out.COA may be sponsoring. J. Werblun  one Monday a month talk to a commissioner next agenda. P. Joohnson  Not all busses will do shuttles no more Red Hawk Casino South county to help may talk To other organizations in Elk Grove. J. Werblun  trip to Cal-Waste can accommodate seniors for 2 hours. 7. Senior Luncheons – Special/Different Occasions (ALL) L. Robins  need to coordinate with Bingo, different occasions, center luncheons look at other organizations Denny’s October. 8. Senior Projects Brainstorming (ALL) Market Stalls  COA can sponsor for seniors to sell at a space 12 per year (once a month) Commissioners’ Reports: Vice Chair P. Johnson: LAPAD Action plan – rec. seniors housing  Commissioner D. McCall: Commissioner B. Moore: Working on grant writing friends of the library near member. Commissioner L. Robbins: Herald Club to get word out. Commissioner J. Werblun: Next Agenda: 1. LAPD 2. Talk to a Commissioner 3. Volunteer hours tracking. 4. Market Stall ADJOURNMENT: L. Robins Motioned; B.
