Meeting Minutes, February 5, 2024
Meeting held in City Council Chambers

A. CALL MEETING TO ORDER: Joshua Cullers, Chair, called meeting to order at 6:30
P.M.
B. ROLL CALL: Adult Mentors Present: Fjeldstad, Goerzen, King, Lampson, Farmer
Youth Members Present: Akers, Bowman , Brixey (6:31) , Bulahan, Murillo
Cuevas, Cullers, Jones, Lallian, Ortega, Sandhu
C. PUBLIC COMMENT: None
D. PRESENTATIONS: None
E. REGULAR BUSINESS:
1. Icebreaker
Adult Mentor King presented a question for commission to answer.
2. Budget Report
Commissioner Jones shared most recent budget report.
3. Approval of minutes for November 6, 2023
Minutes were presented to commission for approval.
Moved: Jones Second: Bowman Ayes: 10 Nays: 0 Abstain: 0
4. Senior Technology Project
An amount of $100 was requested from subcommittee for any purchases needed. Date was set
for April 25, 2024 from 11am to 1pm.
Moved: Bulahan Second: Jones Ayes: 10 Nays: 0 Abstain: 0
5. 2024 Scholarships for Seniors
Scholarship amounts for 2024 was discussed amongst commission. Four scholarships were
decided upon, two being at $1,000 and two being at $500 at large.

6. Meal with SPED students at each high school
An amount of $300 was requested from subcommittee for purchases needed for much at
Liberty. Dates were decided for lunches at both schools and activities for random acts of
kindness were chosen for commission to take part in.

7. Youth Surveys For High Schools
Commissioner Lallian presented updates/ results of survey.
8. Galt Library Project
No updates presented. No action taken.
9. Game Night with Seniors and Teen Center
Mentor Farmer shared updates. No action taken.
10. Recruiting
Subcommittee was formed to go over applications and get the word out.

11. Council Update
Council member Farmer shared council update.

- Encourage the youth to participate in activities that are purposeful in building better citizens.
- Stimulate community service in Galt
- Encourage family participation in building civic unity.
- Strive to emphasize the diversity in our culture by encouraging interaction within the community.
- Collaborate with organizations devoted to the growth of youth
- Recognize that it takes all members of the community to sustain change for the betterment of our youth and families.

C. PUBLIC COMMENT - Under Government Code Section 54954.3, members of the public may
address the commission on any item of interest to the public. Speakers may address commission on
any agenda item during consideration of the item. Please come to the podium and limit your
comments to three (3) minutes.

Consider amount and number of awards recommended by Sub-committee and vote. Applications
are due to Liberty Ranch Feb 5 and Galt High Feb 9.
