CITY OF GALT GALT YOUTH COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS, 380 CIVIC DRIVE GALT, CALIFORNIA MONDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2024 Mission Statement - Encourage the youth to participate in activities that are purposeful in building better citizens. - Stimulate community service in Galt. - Encourage family participation in building civic unity. - Strive to emphasize the diversity in our culture by encouraging interaction within the community. - Recognize that it takes all the members of the community to sustain change for the betterment of our youth and families. A. CALL MEETING TO ORDER: Chair Lallian called the meeting to order at 6:30 P.M. B. ROLL CALL: Youth Commissioners Present: Akers, Bowman, Camacho, Cullers, Fewel1, Oliveros Rivera, Woods, Smith, Lallian, Ortega, Sandhu. Youth Commissioners Absent: Myrick-Smith. Mentors Present: Fjeldstad, Goerzen, King (6:32), Lampson. Mentors Absent: Council Liaison Farmer. C. PUBLIC COMMENT: None. D. PRESENTATIONS: None. E. REGULAR BUSINESS: 1. Icebreaker Information Item Mentor King had commissioners give ideas to address the homeless issue. 2. Approval of minutes for the meeting of November 2024 Action Item Moved to correct “Fewel” to “Fewell” in Roll Call. Moved: Akers Second: Cullers Ayes: 11 Nays: 0 Abstain: 0 3. Budget Report Information Item No updates were given. Treasurer, Oliveros Rivera, is to meet with Tina Hubert. 4. Thornton Christmas Show Information Item Mentor Fjeldstad shared that the Christmas show got cancelled. 5. Blanket Drive Information Item Commissioners were informed of the donation barrels and suggested making a social media post. 6. Trunk or Treat Old Town Information Item  Commissioners gave a recap of how the Trunk or Treat went, and how to improve for future years. 7. Yearly Projects to Consider Discussion Item Woods updated commissioners on the Elementary project. Smith shared no updates for the Library project. Camacho is to make a survey to see what the community wants for the FFA project. Commissioners discussed plans for Random Acts of Kindness Week. 8. Thank You Cards for Donations Discussion Item Commissioners passed around thank you cards to sign. 9. City Council Update Information Item Council Liaison Farmer was not present, no updates were given. 10. Future Agenda Items Information Item Rotary Dinner on December 21st. A-Z Dinner on March 29th at Hutchins St. Square. Lighting of the Night Parade on December 7th. Random Acts of Kindness Week. Blanket Drive. 11. Around the Horn/Give Your Gratitude Information Item Commissioners shared gratitude around the horn. Adjournment Chair Lallian adjourned the meeting at 7:46 P.M.
