Mission Statement
- Encourage the youth to participate in activities that are purposeful in building better citizens.
- Stimulate community service in Galt
- Encourage family participation in building civic unity.
- Strive to emphasize the diversity in our culture by encouraging interaction within the community.
- Collaborate with organizations devoted to the growth of youth
- Recognize that it takes all members of the community to sustain change for the betterment of our youth and families.
A. MEETING CALLED TO ORDER AT 6:35 p.m.
B. ROLL CALL: Youth Commissioners Present: Akers, Buzo, Camacho, Cullers, Dolan, Fewell,
Holden (6:57), John, Oliveros Rivera, Woods
Absent Commissioners: Diaz, Maldonado
Mentors Present: Fjeldstad, Goerzen, Harris, Council Liaison Farmer
C. PUBLIC COMMENT - Under Government Code Section 54954.3, members of the public may
address the commission on any item of interest to the public. Speakers may address commission on
any agenda item during consideration of the item. Please come to the podium and limit your
comments to three (3) minutes.
D. PRESENTATIONS: None
E. REGULAR BUSINESS:
1. Icebreaker Information Item
Mentor Harris asked Commissioners to create and describe a mascot that would represent
the City of Galt.
2. Dias Etiquette Information Item
Council Liaison Farmer went over expectations and regulations Commissioners are expected
to follow.
3. Budget Report Information Item
Treasurer Commissioner Akers was unable to present the budget as there were no budget
printouts.
4. Approval of minutes for September 8, 2025 Action Item
Motion made by Cullers and 2 nd by Camacho. Passed 9-0.
5. Blue Angles of Hope Recap_________ __________ ______ Information Item
Commissioners discussed the event.
6. National Night Out Recap__________________ ________ Information Item
Commissioners discussed the event and its intent.
7. Capitol Field Trip Recap_ ________ _ _________________ Information Item
Commissioners discussed the trip and acknowledged a different trip would be best suited for
commissioner bonding.
8. Galt High Alumni Dinner Recap __ ____________________ Information Item
Commissioners discussed the event and possible attendance next year.
9. Saturday Market Attendance__________ ____ __________ Information Item
Commissioners decided to attend the November 1, Saturday Market to promote the
Commission to the community through “Are you smarter than a Youth Commissioner?”.
Camacho and John were designated to collect gift cards from local businesses to raffle off
in the Saturday Market. A Subcommittee was formed consisting of Akers, Dolan, Holden,
John, and Oliveros Rivera.
10. Trunk R Treat _____ ______________________ Information Item
Commissioners decided to attend the Trunk R Treat on October 25th . A Subcommittee was
formed consisting of Camacho, Dolan, Holden, Oliveros Rivera, and Woods. Motion made
to approve a budget not exceeding $200 for candy, made by Woods and 2 nd by John. Passed
10-0.
11. Fundraising Brainstorm____________ _________ ________ Information Item
Cullers and Dolan will find out information on possible Bake Sell Fundraiser, John will find
out information on possible Car Wash Fundraiser, and Holden will find out information on
possible Save Mart Fundraiser to report at next meeting.
12. Input on Scholarships _______________________ _ Information Item
Commissioners decided to let the Mentors handle the distribution of Scholarships.
13. City Council Update________________________ ________ Information Item
Council Liaison Farmer gave the update.
14. Around the Horn____ __________________________ Information Item
Commissioners and mentors shared gratitude around the horn.

Recommendation: Approve the minutes.

Discussion about how the Blue Angels of Hope Dinner went and how it could go better
in the future.

Discussion about how the National Night Out went and how it could go better in the
future.

Council Liaison Farmer will give an update on recent happenings in Galt and the City
