CITY OF GALT GALT YOUTH COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS 380 CIVIC DRIVE, GALT CALIFORNIA MONDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2025, 6:35 PM Mission Statement Encourage the youth to participate in activities that are purposeful in building better citizens. Stimulate community service in Galt. Encourage family participation in building civic unity. Strive to emphasize the diversity in our culture by encouraging interaction within the community. Collaborate with organizations devoted to the growth of youth. Recognize that it takes all members of the community to sustain change for the betterment of our youth and families. A. MEETING CALLED TO ORDER AT 6:35 PM B. ROLL CALL: Youth Commissioners Present: Akers, Buzo, Camacho (6:55), Cullers, Diaz, Holden, Maldonado, Oliveros Rivera, Woods Absent Commissioners: Dolan, Fewell, John Mentors Present: Fjeldstad, Goerzen, Harris, Pevehouse, Van Warmerdam, Council Liaison Farmer C. PUBLIC COMMENT – Under Government Code Section 54954.3, members of the public may address the commission on any item of interest to the public. Speakers may address commission on any agenda item during consideration of the item. Please come to the podium and limit your comments to three (3) minutes. D. PRESENTATIONS: None E. REGULAR BUSINESS: 1. Icebreaker Information Item Mentor Harris facilitated the icebreaker where Commissioners were to complete the phrase “If you really knew me, you’d know that...” 2. New Mentor Introductions Information Item The new mentors, Pevehouse and Van Warmerdam, introduced themselves to the commission. 3. Budget Report Information Item Treasurer Commissioner Akers presented and reported that there were no changes to the budget/balance overview of the GYC. 4. Approval of Minutes for October 6, 2025 Action Item Motion made by Cullers and seconded by Woods. Passed 9-0 5. Saturday Market Recap Information Item Commissioners discussed the event and its positive impact within the community. 6. Trunk R Treat Recap Information Item Commissioners discussed the event and its positive impact within the community. 7. Fundraising Brainstorm Information Item Council Liaison Farmer suggested Commissioner John make a social media post asking for donations and fundraising opportunities from businesses. During the discussion, the Commissioners decided to participate in the Christmas parade and market, which takes place Saturday, December 6th starting at 4 p.m. A subcommittee was created for this even consisting of Cullers, Camacho, Holden, and Mentor Harris. A motion was made by Woods and seconded by Holden to have a budget of $300 for candy to give to the children during the Light the Night parade which passed 10-0. 8. City Council Update Information Item Council Liaison Farmer gave an update on the recent events in Galt and the City Council. 9. Around the Horn Information Item Commissioners and mentors shared things they were grateful for. Adjournment: 7:37 p.m. Minutes prepared by Secretary Diaz.
