MINUTES OF THE GALVESTON CULTURAL ARTS COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING-TUESDAY January 12, 2021 MEETING VIA ZOOM l. DECLARATION OF A QUORUM AND CALL MEETING TO ORDER a. With a quorum present, the meeting was called to order at 2:04pm Present: Chairperson Nick Barbee, Trey Click, Becky Major, Pat Jakobi, Ken Shelton, Sherril Hilton, Mary Longorria, Kathleen DiNatale, Dr. Craig Brown, Mayor Pro-Tem Absent: Michael Woody b. Review of Minutes: December minutes reviewed and accepted. Motion to accept minutes Motion to accept minutes by Trey Click, second Nick Barbee c. Word on the Street: Pat Jacobi announced Galveston Art League Juried Show d. Public Comment on agenda items: no public comments on agenda ll. Reports a. Chair’s update: Nick Barbee: Announcement that the invitation for submission of proposals for public art is live on city website and encouraged members to get the word out regarding proposal submissions. b. Cultural Arts Master Plan: Joshua Ojeda reported on the RFP for consultants for Artist Grant had been c. Artists Grant FAQ: Becky Major spoke to how to best offer information to those with questions for applying for public art grants. lll. Discussion and Action Items a. Juneteenth Mural: Mural project “Absolute Equality “ outlined by Sheridan Lorenz and detailed by artist Reginald Adams b. Review City Flag Submissions: flag submissions posted on city website for public comment IV. ACTION ITEMS a. Following public comment GCAC will review City Flag submissions at Feb. meeting and select top 3 to submit to City Council V.
