MINUTES OF THE GALVESTON CULTURAL ARTS COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING-TUESDAY MARCH 9, 2021, 2:00PM

l. DECLARATION OF A QUORUM AND CALL MEETING TO ORDER
a. With a quorum present, the meeting was called to order at 2:06pm
Present: Chairperson Nick Barbee, Trey Click, Pat Jakobi, Mary Longorria, Michale Woody,
Becky Major, Sherril Hilton, Ken Shelton, Kathleen DiNatale, Mayor Dr. Craig Brown
b. Review of February 9th meeting, minutes accepted.
c. Word on the Street: Michael Woody reported on activities of CVB for Spring Break
promotions, new mobile visitor center
d. Public Comment on Agenda Items: Jerome McLemore, Dawson Finklea, Annette Clark,
Levi Smathers offered commentary and clarification on their City Flag submissions
ll. REPORT
a.Chair’s Update: Pat Jakobi reported on City Council Meeting and the discussion process
around choosing the finalists for the City Flag. Pat & Nick Barbee reported that Ci ty Council
requested that we discuss sending out the final flag submissions for public vote with results
to be returned to Council.
lll. Discussion and Action Items
a.City Flag Finalists: a motion to send the 3 flags back to City Council for selection was made
by Sherrill Hilton, the motion was seconded by Mary Longorria
b. Public Art Grants
I. Clarification of budget available $50,000 for distribution
ll. Workshop to review submissions set for Tuesday March 30 th at 2pm
IV. ADJOURNMENT: Motion to adjourn by Trey Click, seconded by Sherrill Hilton, 3:03pm
