MINUTES OF THE GALVESTON CULTURAL ARTS COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING, TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2022, 2:00 PM HYBRID MEETING IN PERSON AND VIA ZOOM I. DECLARATION OF QUORUM AND CALL MEETING TO ORDER a. With a quorum present the meeting was called to order at 2:02 PM by Chair Kathleen DiNatale. Present: Pat Jakobi, Sherrill Hilton, Ken Shelton, Mary Longoria, Trey Click, Nick Barbee, Jan Collier. Absent: Michael Woody. For the City: Megan Pierce, Barbara Sanderson, Legal. Guest: Antoinette Lynch and Josh Bloom. b. Review of Minutes: Minutes for August regular meeting were reviewed. Trey moved they be approved; Nick seconded. Approval was unanimous. c. Word on the Street: Events at Rosenberg Library, Galveston Art League, Galveston Arts Center, and Galveston College were announced. d. Public Comments: There were no public comments. II. REPORTS a. Chair’ s Update: An budget increase to $100,000 for the next fiscal year was approved by the City Council. Evan McCliman is unveiling his public art project at Ashton Villa at 5:00 p.m. this evening. The final wrap-up of the 2020- 2021 grant year will be presented at October meeting. b. Megan announced that seven of the nine 2022-23 Public Arts artists have received half of their funding. She will send a copy of the updated works in progress. c. Josh Bloom of Lakota Group gave a presentation and slides of the activities associated with Phase 1 of the Galveston Arts and Culture Plan. A draft is due on September 30. He and Antoinette Lynch answered questions from members of the CAC and discussed activities related to the Action Plan in Phase 2. III. DISCUSSION AND ACTION ITEMS a. There were no action items. IV. ADJOURN MEETING a. Nick moved and Mary seconded that the meeting be adjourned.
