September 26, 2022
The Mayor and Council of the City of Garden City met in Regular Session Monday, September 26,
2022, at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Civic Center, 6000 Middlebelt Road, Garden
City, Michigan.
REGULAR MEETING
Present were Mayor Walker, Mayor Pro-Tem Squires, Councilmembers Earle, Jacobs, Lynch and Karafotis.
Members absent and excused: Councilmember DiMichele
Also present were City Manager Dougherty, City Clerk Miller, City Treasurer Marciniak, DPW Director Ohman,
Fire Chief Harman, and Police Chief Gibbons.

City Clerk Miller swore in new Fire Marshall John Smith.
Wayne County Commissioner Glenn Anderson presented John Smith with a plaque in
recognition of his promotion to Fire Marshall
Wayne County Commissioner Glenn Anderson spoke regarding district boundary changes and delays on
projects on Cherry Hill, Merriman, and Wayne Road.
City Treasurer Marciniak gave a presentation of the new water bill format.
Congressmember Rashida Tlaib, presented a plaque in recognition of John Smit’s promotion to Fire

Marshall.
Mayor Walker gave information on Wayne County COVID vaccines, the paving of Inkster Road from
Ford to Warren, and need for Meals on Wheels volunteers.

in the Radcliff Center.

Mayor Walker announced it was time for public comment.
Kim Dold, DDA Executive Director, gave information on upcoming Chili Cookoff (October 8).
Maddie Richard, spoke regarding need for speed signs.
Tony Richard, inquired about council stance on cannabis, DPW pothole work, and status of ordinance
enforcement in city 4x4 block program.
There being no further business before Council, the meeting was then adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
