Mr. Guerra wants to discuss options for an apprentice program. Brief discussion about what would be needed to start an apprentice tattoo program in Gardner. Board agrees to hear Mr. Guerra at next meeting. 5:18 Old Business: No old business. 5:19 New Business: Joan from Tobacco Control had approached Jennifer, let her know that many communities were going to meet and discuss the new 21 year-old age restriction on tobacco purchase before the start date. The new age restriction goes into effect on January 1, 2019. The State has a grandfather clause permitting those who are currently 18 to continue to purchase but cities can pass their own regulations restricting those who are under 21 from purchasing tobacco. There is a discussion about if Gardner should or should not honor the grandfather clause for those who are currently between the ages of 18-21 who can now legally purchase tobacco. There was a discussion held as to whether Joan from Tobacco Control needs to meet with the Board Members, the Board feels that they do not need to meet with her at this time. The Board agrees to follow the State Regulation. Jennifer states that the Health Office has been busy with resident & housing issues, renewing food permits and other annual licenses. Solar: Jennifer has been busy with attending planning meetings for the solar arrays at Keys Rd/Princeton St. The Dubzinski property solar array project permit was denied. Marijuana: Sanctuary Medicinal has been granted an occupancy permit for the medicinal marijuana store, the recreational marijuana side of the business permits are still pending. Also, Jennifer was able to visit, with the Mayor, to tour Sanctuary Medicinals grow facility in Littleton MA. She was able to learn about the facility, which will be helpful when the proposed grow facility on Mill St in Gardner begins its process with the City. She also describes the size and layout of the facility, some description of the staffing and gives an overview of the process of harvesting and preparing the plants for sale. 5:40 Set next meeting for December 3, 2018, at 5pm, adjourn. ________________________ _______________________ _________________________ Dr. John Mulqueen MD, Chairperson Susan Avallone, Member Atty.
