CITY OF GARDNER MASSACHUSETTS 01440-2630 BOARD OF REGISTRARS OF VOTERS Minutes of Meeting of September 18, 2013 Wednesday, September 18, 2013. The meeting of the Board of Registrars of Voters was held in the City Council Chamber, City Hall. The meeting called to order by Chairperson Darlene Morrilly at 9:00 a.m. Members present: Chairperson Darlene E. Morrilly, Patricia C. Darby and City Clerk Alan Agnelli. The Chair read aloud the following: Any person may make a video or audio recording of the open session of this meeting so long as it does not interfere with the conduct of the meeting. All documents and exhibits used or referenced at this meeting shall be submitted in duplicate to the City Clerk, as they become part of the minutes of the meeting. Is there anyone present who will be recording this meeting? No one in attendance responded. 1. Board Reorganization for 2013-2014. Mrs. Morrilly nominated Patricia Darby to be Board Chairperson for the 2013-14 Session. Mr. Agnelli seconded the nomination. There being no further nominations, Mrs. Darby was elected by acclamation. 2. Registrar Vacancy Due to the resignation of Albert J. “Jack” Strott on July 15, 2013, Mrs. Morrilly moved to recommend to the Mayor that he appoint Mario Guay to the position of Temporary Registrar until Mr. Guay is confirmed by the City Council to fill Mr. Strott’s term of office. Mr. Agnelli seconded the motion. The motion carried. 3. Board Appointments Assistant Registrars Mrs. Morrilly moved to reappoint Calvin D. Brooks (Republican) and Neil W. Janssens (Democrat) to the positions of Assistant Registars for terms expiring April 1, 2014. Mr. Agnelli seconded the motion. The motion carried. Temporary Assistant Registrars Mrs. Morrilly moved to appoint Titi Siriphan and John Olivari, employees of the City Clerk’s Office, to the positions of Temporary Assistant Registrars. Mr. Agnelli seconded the motion. The motion carried. 4. 2013 City Election Plans Mr. Agnelli updated the members on City Election plans and the schedule for future Board meetings. 5. 2014 Ballot Question Petitions Mr. Agnelli informed the Board that a significant number of ballot question petitions are being circulated for the 2014 State Election ballot.
