DDA Minutes of April 8, 2026, at 5:15 at Gladwin City Hall Present: Chair Jeff Zettel, George Alward, Tom Mienk, Cristy Gutierrez and Stacy Plude. Approved Absence: Mayor Sarah Kile and Vice Chair Joe Kreusch. Absent: Priscilla Szerdi Call to Order: Meeting was called to order at 5:28 PM by Chair Zettel. Nancy Bodnar and Cheryl from the Char Stone Restaurant were present for the meeting. Pledge of Allegiance was lead by the Chair. Public Comment: Nancy Bodnar indicated that the Depot was awaiting a second bid for painting. Cheryl mentioned that she is making improvements to the restaurant and looking forward to opening. Approval of Minutes: Motion of warrants of March 3-1-2026 thru March 3-31-2026 were moved by Stacy Plude and Supported by George Alward. Motion was approved. Financials: Were presented and reviewed by the board. EDC Update: No one was present to give an update. DDA Operations: An update regarding the Education Session was discussed. Upon meeting the City Council does want to see the DDA hire a director. They didn’t want to make that person a part time city-DDA employee. Many topics relating to marketing were discussed to attempt to promote the community. As well, topics such as the desire for us to establish a Secretary. The Treasurer was discussed and it is something that the DDA could hire however, it would make the annual review of the books difficult and requiring a separate firm. Same is true of banking, it would require separate accounts and annual reviews. DDA Director Discussion ensued. It was clear that this would take some time and all agreed that a part time person would be the best direction to direct our efforts to at this time. I was decided that we would attempt to have a workshop to determine the job description, qualifications, pay amounts and other details. Cristy will send an email and all to respond to the chair so that a date can be set. GBPA 2026-2027 Funding request was discussed and it is about a $2,000 increase from the prior year. Voting will be held to the July meeting to get the funds into that fiscal year. Other Business: Stacy reported on the GBPA events. Easter Egg Hunt, Thunder on the Strip (May 16th), Miss Gladwin County, Gladwin Street Fair (July 11th), Mural - a selection will be made during the Street Fair (Midland Artists have shown interest and funding support is needed) and there will be bands in the Thursdays in the City series. Regarding the sound system, Stacy is still awaiting a second request to verify the demo amount which was previously stated to be $900. It doesn’t appear to be in the current bid that was received.
