Miguel Martinez (GPD) Paul Stelzel (fireworks) Tom Cinealis Rafael Hildalgo (popsicles) The meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. Fireworks: Ann was thinking of having a big screen with sponsors, upcoming events, etc. and then the screen would fold down when the fireworks started. Eric said if we do this it should be in the same spot as the bounce houses so it would use the same electric outlet/wire. Jenna also talked about having the Nicolet FEAR Roboknight (t-shirt-shooting robot) before the fireworks. There were concerns expressed about kids trampling people to get to the t-shirts, so we determined not to do this. It would also be nice to get GPD Drone footage of the layout and fireworks. The traveling beer garden is in the park from July 1 to 19. Ann asked if the beer garden trucks could get damaged by the fireworks. Paul said, yes they could. Ann said that Sprecher would be willing to come across the street for the 4th. If they do move, they will just move the truck and sell beer from it. If the Brick doesn’t like this, they would work with The Brick. For example, perhaps The Brick would sell food and hand out coupons at the beer garden on other days. Jenna suggested that Ann and Bethanie have a meeting with the Brick and Sprecher. Ann said she would try to make this happen. She also said they have an ATM. We’re still doing the flag with “GLENDALE” across it. The Stature of Liberty ground effect is good; we’re still doing this. Paul is going to make some changes that a casual observer wouldn’t notice. He is going to keep it so it’s hard to predict when it is ending. We’ve had problems with cars sneaking past the fence at the north side and parking there. Sgt. Martinez said he will ask the bike patrol officers to focus more in this area. We have problems with people stopping on Green Bay to unload. Tom asked if putting a snow fence along the road would work. We could have an access by Mill road. We could have several openings. Having the whole west side of the park open encourages people to stop and traffic to get backed up. Page 1 of 3 `` Popsicles: Rafael Hildalgo of Tropical Pops talked about his healthy popsicles; they are all-natural and healthy. There are no unhealthy ingredients except sugar. The flavors are: cherry-cheesecake, chocolate cookie, orange, mango, strawberry, coconut, pineapple, passion fruit, coffee, blueberry. They cost $4-$5 each. He has a 10x10 tent and two push carts to sell them from. He has a freezer that he runs on an 1800- watt generator. He would like to sell along the parade route from two pushcarts (that aren’t moving) and a tent at the grounds. Jessica said his county pushcart license should be fine for along the parade route, and then he needs to fill out a vendor form for the tent in the park. Ann asked if he had smaller versions we could give out to the kids at the end of the Children’s Parade (we would need 250 of them). He said the small ones would be almost as expensive as the big ones. He said he’d look into this and get back to us. He brought samples which the committee enjoyed very much (though they can be challenging to open). Children’s Parade: The duties of the Children’s Parade coordinator were explained to Melanie: Before the 4th: getting donations and purchasing fun items for 250 goodie bags for the kids in the parade; stuffing goodie bags; arranging for 250 ice cream cups and refrigeration. On the 4th: at the start of the parade route at Parkway School: welcoming kids, letting them know where to be, ensuring they feel comfortable and complimented. At the end of the parade route: handing out goodie bags and ice cream. One person is needed at the start and two at the end. Ann Markuson, the Children’s Parade coordinator for several years, will be happy to talk with Melanie and let her know more details. We also need volunteers to cut and distribute cake. PTO will still be sponsoring the bounce house(s). They have $500 budgeted for this. Steve suggested that we ask the Lion’s Club to help with the cake so PTO can focus on the Children’s Parade. Booklet Sales: Ann said they’re coming along, but she’s concerned about the Coronavirus. If the event is canceled or modified because of an outbreak, how does this affect sponsorships? Tom said we need to have contingencies not only for sponsors but for everyone with whom we have a contract. Worst-case scenario we only have fireworks. Bethanie asked if we could get a sponsor for hand sanitizer. Ann suggested that sponsorships that get cancelled could get carried forward to the next year. Jessica said we have a contingency in the band contract. Jenna asked Jessica to forward the epidemics contingency language from the band contract to us so that we can put it in all of our contracts. Jenna mentioned that Uncle Dan’s is closing. Do we know of anyone else who might sponsor the climbing wall? Adventure rock was suggested. Tom will look for someone, and if he doesn’t get someone, he will let Jenna know so she can ask Elite. Food Vendors: Bethanie mentioned that the owner of Rolling Cones has retired, so she will be scouting out another food vendor. Cousin’s is not available. Bethanie will try Noodles & Co. There’s also a new mini donut place in town that we could add to the list of food vendors. Ann will give Bethanie that contact information. Page 2 of 3 `` Daytime Activities: We have: Random Maxx, Balloon Artist, Magician, Bingo. We have an open slot from 5-6. Jenna suggested that we talk to Sarah Acker to see if she has any suggestions. A comedian or Comedy Sportz would be fun. Bethanie will ask her Toastmasters group if they have someone who does comedy. Treasurer Update: Fireworks is the same. Still figuring out entertainment. Parade is pretty much the same. Parade: Jessica said ¾ of the previous acts are returning, and she’s waiting to hear from the rest, plus there are 5 or 6 new acts. Parade Officials/Vehicles: Mary Lynn is taking care of it. Scouts: They will be involved. Steve will make sure someone books the dunk tank. Steve is doing a sign-up genius for volunteers for the dunk tank if the scouts don’t have enough. Police Presence: Sgt. Martinez is making the schedule for officers for the 4th. He needs the parade layout. Please contact him if something else comes up. Layout: Steve suggested we should stake out where bounce houses go so people don’t set up in this area. Band: Contract was redone with 2 cases of beer, 2 cases of water and that’s all and limits for when they can set up. Random Maxx will set up, play and leave their equipment and then the Love Monkeys will add to the existing equipment. Website and IT: Steve will promote Love Monkeys on the website. As contracts get signed, let Steve know so he can add these acts to the website. Steve will renew the website subscription which runs out before the 4th. He will renew for another year, which costs $150. He’s been publishing notes on dropbox. Tom asked if we could get our website fee sponsored. Jenna suggested that Aldi might want to sponsor the cake. Shirts: Mary Lynn is working on getting volunteer shirts. The meeting was adjourned at 8:24 pm. Page 3 of 3
