CITY COUNCIL MEETING August 10 , 2020 The Greenville City Council convened in the Council Chamber at City Hall on Monday, August 10, 2020, at 5:30 p.m. for a regular meeting. Mayor Dexter McLendon called the meeting to order. City Clerk-Treasurer Dee H. Blackmon called the roll and recorded the following members present: Mayor McLendon, Councilmembers Bryan Reynolds, Ed Sims, Tommy Ryan, Jimmy Lawson and Boris Thigpen. Mayor McLendon led those attending in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag. Councilmember Ryan delivered the invocation. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Mayor McLendon advised each councilmember had received for review a copy of the proposed minutes for the Regular Council Meeting held on July 27, 2020. He asked if there were any additions, deletions or amendments to the minutes as presented. Councilmember Lawson moved to dispense with the reading of the minutes and approve the minutes for July 27, 2020, as drafted . Councilmember Sims seconded the motion. Mayor McLendon announced the motion carried with a unanimous vote of the Council. APPROVAL OF EXPENDITURES: Councilmember Ryan made a motion to approve the following expenditures: GREENVILLE TIRE - $3,986.00 R & R AUTO TRANSMISSION ASSY FOR #84 2006 FORD F250 STREET DEPARTMENT JDM SERVICES - $3,446.40 – BUDGETED ITEM WORK PERFORMED IN SECTION B OF PIONEER CEMETERY Councilmember Reynolds seconded the motion. Mayor McLendon announced the motion passed with unanimous vote of the Council. WEED AND DEBRIS VIOLATIONS: GRATEROL, MAURO JHONN 428 SOUTH CONECUH ST 10 08 06 24 3 000 026.004 BARRETT BERNICE & MARK A 109 GRAVEL HILL RD 10 08 08 27 4 001 007.000 BEELAND STEAD 702 FORT DALE RD 10 08 06 14 3 001 079.000 Councilmember Sims moved to proceed to the next step of compliance for weed and debris violations pursuant to the City’s Code of Ordinances, and thereby authorize properties to be cleared at the owners ’ expense and the City Clerk to bill property owner for services . Councilmember Lawson seconded the motion. Mayor McLendon announced the motion carried with a unanimous vote of the Council. MICHAEL STALLINGS 387 WEST FIELD ST 10 08 06 23 3 001 014.000 BROOKS, WILLIE JAMES SR & LINDA G 408 THAMES ST 10 08 06 13 3 002 031.008 Councilmember Sims moved to approve a 5 day extension of compliance for weed and debris violations pursuant to the City’s Code of Ordinances, and thereby authorize properties to be cleared at the owners ’ expense and the City Clerk to bill property owner for services . Councilmember Lawson seconded the motion. Mayor McLendon announced the motion carried with a unanimous vote of the Council. ANNOUNCEMENTS AND ADJOURNMENT: Mayor McLendon announced the next regular council meeting will be held Monday, August 24, 2020 has been rescheduled to August 17, 2020 at 5:30pm. Councilmember Reynolds made a motion to approve the rescheduling of the council meeting from August 24, 2020 to August 17, 2020. Councilmember Ryan seconded the motion. Mayor McLendon announced the motion carried with a unanimous vote of the Council.
