CITY COUNCIL MEETING JANUARY 27, 2025 The Greenville City Council convened in the Council Chamber of City Hall on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. for a regular council meeting. Mayor Dexter McLendon called the meeting to order. City Clerk – Treasurer Dee Blackmon called the roll and recorded the following members present: Mayor McLendon, Councilmembers Bryan Reynolds, Ed Sims, Joseph West, and Jae’Ques Brown. Councilmember Boris Thigpen was absent. Mayor McLendon led those attending in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag. Councilmember Jae’Ques Brown delivered the invocation. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Mayor McLendon advised each councilmember had received for review a copy of the proposed minutes for the Regular Council Meeting held on January 13, 2025. He asked if there were any additions, deletions or amendments to the minutes as presented. Councilmember West moved to dispense with the reading of the minutes and approve the minutes for January 13, 2025, as drafted . Councilmember Sims seconded the motion. Mayor McLendon announced the motion carried with a unanimous vote of the Council. NEW BUSINESS: RESOLUTION 2025-03. A RESOLUTION APPROVING QUARTERLY REPORTS FOR QUARTER ENDING DECEMBER 31, 2024. Councilmember Reynolds moved to adopt Resolution 2025-0 3 approving the quarterly reports for quarter ended December 31 , 2024. Councilmember West seconded the motion. Mayor McLendon announced the motion carried with a unanimous vote of the council. RESOLUTION 2025-04. A RESOLUTION APPROVING A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE CITY OF GREENVILLE AND REID STATE TECHNICAL COLLEGE. Councilmember West moved to adopt Resolution 2025-0 4 approving a memorandum of understanding for the term of one year, commencing on January 1, 2025 and ending on December 31, 2025, between the City of Greenville and Reid State Technical College. Reid State Technical College for the use of the property located at 903 Cedar Street and pay the City of Greenville $200.00 per month. Councilmember Reynolds seconded the motion. Mayor McLendon announced the motion carried with a unanimous vote of the council. APPROVAL OF EXPENDITURES: Mayor McLendon explained the following expenditures, and asked if anyone had questions or comments. Hearing none, Councilmember Sims made a motion to approve the following expenditures: GAMETIME - $33,576.69 PLAYGROUND FOR THE PARKS & RECREATION BUILDING 3 MAGIC CITY SIGNS - $3,550.00 REPLACE BAD NEON AND TRANSFORMERS WITH NEW AT THE MOVIE THEATER Councilmember Brown seconded the motion. Mayor McLendon announced the motion passed with unanimous vote of the Council. ANNOUNCEMENTS AND ADJOURNMENT: Mayor McLendon announced the next council meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 10, 2025.
