CITY COUNCIL MEETING JULY 28, 2025 The Greenville City Council convened in the Council Chamber of City Hall on Monday, July 28, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. for a regular council meeting. Mayor Dexter McLendon called the meeting to order. City Clerk – Treasurer Dee Blackmon called the roll and recorded the following members present: Mayor McLendon, Councilmembers Bryan Reynolds, Ed Sims, and Joseph West. Jae’Ques Brown, and Boris Thigpen were absent. Councilmember was absent. Mayor McLendon led those attending in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag. Mr. Eddie Cook delivered the invocation. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Mayor McLendon advised each councilmember had received for review a copy of the proposed minutes for the Regular Council Meeting held on July 14, 2025. He asked if there were any additions, deletions or amendments to the minutes as presented. Councilmember West moved to dispense with the reading of the minutes and approve the minutes for July 14, 2025, as drafted . Councilmember Sims seconded the motion. Mayor McLendon announced the motion carried with a unanimous vote of the Council. NEW BUSINESS: RESOLUTION 2025-27. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ADDITION OF STREET LIGHTING AT STONEROAD DRIVE AND COST TO CITY ’S BILLING WITH ALABAMA POWER COMPANY. Councilmember Sims moved to approve addition of a street light on Stoneroad Drive and authorize an additional $7.38 per month to be added to the Alabama Power Company street light billing account. Councilmember West seconded the motion. Mayor McLendon announced the motion carried with a unanimous vote of the Council. RESOLUTION 2025-28. A RESOLUTION APPOINTING ELECTION OFFICIALS FOR THE 2025 MUNICIPAL ELECTION. Councilmember Reynolds moved to adopt Resolution 2025-28 appointing election officials for the 2025 municipal election. Councilmember West seconded the motion. Mayor McLendon announced the motion carried with a unanimous vote of the council. RESOLUTION 2025-29. A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING COMPENSATION OF ELECTION OFFICIALS FOR THE 2025 MUNICIPAL ELECTION. City Clerk Blackmon stated Resolution 2025-29 will set the pay for municipal election officials for the upcoming election at $178.00 for the Chief Inspector and $153.00 per person per day for all other poll workers. Councilmember Sims moved to adopt Resolution 2025-29 establishing the compensation for the Chief Inspector at $178.00 per day and $153.00 for all other municipal election officials for the 2025 Municipal Election. Councilmember Reynolds seconded the motion. Mayor McLendon announced the motion carried with a unanimous vote of the Council. APPROVAL OF EXPENDITURES: Mayor McLendon explained the following expenditures. Mayor McLendon asked if anyone had questions or comments. Hearing none, Councilmember Reynolds made a motion to approve the following expenditures: LEADS ONLINE - $4,158.00 BUDGETED ITEM INVESTIGATIVE SOFTWARE RENEWAL ALL ACCESS OVERHEAD DOOR - $5,115.00 BUDGETED ITEM REPLACEMENT OF DOOR MOTORS FOR STATION 1 Councilmember West seconded the motion. Mayor McLendon announced the motion passed with unanimous vote of the Council. ANNOUNCEMENTS AND ADJOURNMENT: Mayor McLendon announced the next council meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 11, 2025.
