Absent: Cindy Jones, Gloria Berry, Kenneth M Moore, Roxane C Wulf
Kenda Woodard-Amin, Griffin-Spalding Business and Tourism Association Executive Director, was in
attendance, along with Michelle Haynes, City of Griffin Director of Planning & Development.
Call to Order
Quorum was established, and the meeting was called to order by Chairman Jason Chance at 8:16 a.m.
Approval of Minutes
Consider the minutes from the June 24, 2026 meeting
Motion/second to approve by Hollberg/Miller carried 7-0.
Citizen Comment
Financial Report
Review of the Main Street Program Fund ending June 30, 2026
Motion/second to approve by Hollberg/Watts carried 7-0.
Old and New Business
Update on Main Street Workplan projects, Working Committees, and other topics from the Main Street
Board Chair.
Jason Chance gave an update on the interview process for the open Main Street Program Manager &
Downtown Engagement Coordinator position. He also provided a recap of his review of the Main Street
Workplan with City staff to ensure a smooth transition for the incoming manager. He also mentioned upcoming
training opportunities on August 12th and August 13th. Registration is required for both events.
Partner Updates
Update from Downtown Development Authority Board Appointee
Jason Chance gave an update for the Downtown Development Authority, including the approval of the Flex
Grant Program.
Update from Historic Preservation Commission Appointee
No Historic Preservation update for this month.
Update from City of Griffin Commission Appointee
Doug Hollberg gave an update for the City of Griffin Commission, including successfully completing the FY26
budget year, the filming taking place in Downtown Griffin, the success of the 250th/175th Celebration events
that took place in partnership with Spalding County early this month, and provided an update on the Griffin
Downtown Council for the remainder of 2026. He also acknowledged the passing of former Main Street Chair
Bonnie Moret and recognized her service to the community and the Historic Preservation Board.
Update from Spalding County Commission Appointee
Reginald Watts gave an update for the Spalding County Commission, including the property at 117 East
Solomon Street, the naming of Heritage Park gym to the Fairmont Event Center, and noted that, at this time, not
one of the three data centers that have been approved by Spalding County has started any developments due to
the ordinance their board has put in place.
Update from Griffin-Spalding Chamber of Commerce
No Griffin-Spalding Chamber update this month.
