Roll Call/Call to Order March 11, 2025 The following members of the Board of Review were present: Sandy Nelson Jess Sikand Also present: Eric Dunlap, WCA Ashton Pongratz, WCA Excused: Jeffrey Stieber Patricia Groezinger Motion by Nelson, supported by Sikand, to call to order the meeting of Tuesday, March 11, 2025, to order, at 9:00 a.m. Motion carried by the following vote: YES: Nelson, Sikand NO: None ABSTAIN: None Delivery of Assessment Roll by Assessor/Acceptance by Board of Review Assessor Dunlap explained that the Michigan State Tax Commission has approved the use of a computerized assessment roll and the 2025 roll is created and saved as a PDF format on the City’s computer system. The Boards can access or request information at any time, during the March Board of Review. Organizational Meeting Assessor Dunlap reviewed the policies for any poverty exemption appeals, which are able to be heard at any of the three Boards of Review, at the March, July, and December meetings. Discussion followed regarding poverty exemption standards and policies. He continued with a statement on Veterans Exemptions. He informed the Board members that Veterans Exemptions are no longer able to be heard at any of the three Boards of Review. They will now be processed as an assessor change according to State law. A 24-month sales study, with a period of April 1, 2022 through March 31, 2024, was used to determine the 2025 assessment roll for equalization Page | 1 purposes. The inflation rate multiplier for 2025 is 1.031, corresponding to a consumer price index of 3.1%. The organizational meeting ended at 9:15 a.m. It was determined that Day 1 would be comprised of Sandy Nelson and Jess Sikand. Day 2 would be comprised of Jeffrey Stieber and Patricia Groezinger. Day 3 (Morning) would be comprised of Jeffrey Stieber, Patricia Groezinger, and Jess Sikand. Day 3 (Afternoon) would be comprised of Patricia Groezinger, Sandy Nelson, and Jess Sikand. Members absent: none Election of Officers: Nelson was elected to serve as Chair, while Sikand was elected to serve as secretary.
