Citizens’ Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes
Meeting of the Citizens’ Recreation Commission was held on June 10, 2025 at
Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan.
CALLED TO ORDER: 7:03pm
PRESENT: ABSENT:

ALSO PRESENT: Angela Coletti-Brown, Owen Gafa, and Tony Rennpage
Vice Chair noted a lack of quorum. No official actions were taken. Reports given.
DIRECTOR’S REPORT:
● Pool is up and running. Still in serious need of lifeguards (pay is equivalent to
other Grosse Pointes with loyalty bonus)
● Youth Pickleball (7-13) program beginning June 24
● New Ghesquiere walking path is getting a lot of use
● Launching a city Facebook page for community outreach
COUNCIL REPORT:
● None
TREASURER’S REPORT:
● Bike Ride came in slightly under budget ($50)
● Commission budget for FY 25/26 is $17,500
OLD BUSINESS:

● Spring Bike Ride Debrief
o Turnout was around 100 participants.
o Some comments were made about potholes on Jackson
o Next year might utilize walking path as part of the route and cut down
on streets
o Next year (if using parking lots) we should have signs along with
blocking off parking lot early.
● 75th Anniversary subcommittee
o 75 Days of Summer: Challenge to complete 75 activities (repeats
allowed) from a list of GPW-centered challenges. Participants can
track and submit entries for prizes
▪ will share with city to post to Facebook page for publicization;
may add a sharing component
● Fishing Derby
o Need to make supplies request sooner than late
