Citizens’ Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes
Meeting of the Citizens’ Recreation Commission was held on Nov 12, 2024 at
Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan.

DIRECTOR'S REPORT:
● Polar Express sold out. All professional Santas are healthy and booked
● Petting zoo booked for WinterFest
COUNCIL REPORT:
● WinterFest budget ($13,000) approved
TREASURER’S REPORT:
● None
OLD BUSINESS:
● WinterFest (January 25)
o Tents have been booked. Commission asks Parks & Rec Director to
investigate what tents and what securing options the city already has,
and what it would cost for city to purchase tents to use each year
(instead of renting)
o Sports theme: characters booked, library booked, dj booked, look into
photo booth, looking to get someone to do disc golf intro lessons,
trying to book inflatable games, will get small sports theme giveaway
items
o Food trucks booked
o GPW Foundation will have table
NEW BUSINESS:
● Snow Creation Contest
o New subcommittee: Starkey, Andrews
o Will use a Google form to allow families to submit photos (include
family name, phone, address, snow creation photo)
