Historical Commission Minutes
June 12, 2025
I. Call to Order
The regular meeting of the Grosse Pointe Woods Historical Commission was called to order at
7:40 p.m. by Chair Sean Murphy.
II. Roll Call
Present: David Bryk, Colleen D’Agostino, Shirley Hartert, Suzanne Kent, Stephanie Listman,
Lynne Millies, Sean Murphy, Becky Veitengruber, Giles Wilborn
Excused: Krystle English, City Council Representative- Jim Motschall
III. Approval of Agenda
Motion by Hartert, seconded by Millies, to approve the agenda for June 12, 2025. Ayes: all.
Motion carried.
IV. Approval of Minutes
Motion by D’Agostino, seconded by Hartert, to approve the May 8, 2025 minutes. Ayes: all.
Motion carried.
V. Items
Treasurer’s Report
Hartert reported that the Historical Commission balance is $500.00. The Cook
Schoolhouse balance is $8,061.10.
VI. Old Business
A. Cook School
1. May 10th Open House details were shared, including some visitors being descendants
of the Cook family.
2. Discussion of possible transfer of items, gifted from the Grosse Pointe Historical
Society.
B. Memorial Day 2025
Details and updates from the event were discussed. Estimated attendance was 300+.
VII. New Business
Hartert shared with the commission that America will be celebrating its 250th birthday, next
year in 2026.
VIII. Call to Audience
Council Representative Jim Motschall shared city updates with the commission.
IX. Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 9:21 p.m.
