Groveland's Parks Master Plan envisions conservation lands as a key component of the City's interconnected park system, . A study is needed to identify the City's most important parcels for preservation, The City currently has no conservation parks and no designated conservation lands. A partnership with the County focused on prioritized purchases of conservatlon parcels could be a fruitful outcome of the upcoming Joint Planning Agreement (JPA) process. On Saturday, July 24, zozt, Hope Torchlighters, in partnership with the City of Groveland, presented the Challenged Champions and Heroes Award Ceremony. Founded by Dr. Robin Lococo, Challenged Champions and Heroes is a national organization that that looks to bring honor and recognition to the physically and mentally challenged people of the world and their caregivers. Dr. Robin Lococo is a zor8 U.S. Lifetime Achievement Presidential Award Winner, and a Congregational Top zo Women's Award recipient. Due to her efforts on behalf of those with special needs, the U.S. National Archives issued a National Proclamation Day, that every July 29th is officially designated as National Challenged Champions and Heroes Awareness Day Under the advisement of Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee Chairman, Dr. Joscelyn Ramos Campbell, the City of Groveland was designated as a Challenged Champions and Heroes awards ceremony location, due to the inspirational lives of the nominees, and the accessibility that is emerging, of total support services for those families with needs or disabilities regardless of age. Honorees included special needs individuals, as well as siblings and caregivers.
