National Public Works Week
By the Mayor of Gulf Shores
A Proclamation
WHEREAS, public works infrastructure, facilities and services are of vital importance to
sustainable communities and to the health, safety and well-being of the people of Gulf Shores;
and,
WHEREAS, such facilities and services could not be provided without the dedicated efforts of
public works professionals, engineers, managers and employees from State and local units of
Government and the private sector, who are responsible for and must plan, design, build, operate,
and maintain the transportation, water supply, water treatment and solid waste systems, public
buildings, and other structures and facilities essential to serve our citizens; and
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest for the citizens, civic leaders, and children in the United
States of America to gain knowledge of and to maintain a progressive interest and understand the
importance of public works and public works programs in their respective communities; and
WHEREAS, the year 2013 marks the 53rd annual National Public Works Week sponsored by the
American Public Works Association,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Craft, Mayor of Gulf Shores, on behalf of the City Council and
the citizens of this community, do hereby designate the week of May 19-25, 2013 as National
Public Works Week; and I urge all our people to join with representatives of the American
Public Works Association and government agencies in activities and ceremonies designed to pay
tribute to our public works professionals, engineers, managers and employees and to recognize
the substantial contributions they have made to our national health, safety, welfare and quality of
life.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Gulf
Shores, Alabama to be affixed,
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Notice is hereby given that the following named applicants have applied for an ABC
Board Alcohol License. A Public Hearing and voting on such license will be held on
Monday, May 13, 2013, at a regular Gulf Shores City Council Meeting which begins at
4:00 p.m. in Gulf Shores City Hall. Those wishing to express disapproval of said

TO AMEND THE CODE OF ORDINANCES,
ADOPTED JULY 24, 1989,
AT CHAPTER 21, TRAFFIC,
ARTICLE I., IN GENERAL,
BY ADDING CERTAIN LANGUAGE
AT SECTION 21-7,
FOUR-WAY STOP INTERSECTIONS,
TO INCLUDE THE INTERSECTION OF
EAST 23RD AVENUE AND EAST 9TH STREET

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GULF SHORES,
ALABAMA, WHILE IN REGULAR SESSION ON MAY 13, 2013, as follows:
Section 1. That Chapter 21, TRAFFIC, of the Code of
Ordinances, adopted July 24, 1989, be and it is hereby amended by
adding certain language at Article I., In General, Section 21-7,
Four-Way Stop Intersections, to include the intersections of
East 23rd Avenue and East 9th Street, so the entire Section shall
read as follows:
CHAPTER 21 TRAFFIC
ARTICLE I. IN GENERAL

Sec. 21-7. Four-way stop intersections.
* * *
v. The intersection of East 23rd Avenue and East 9th Street is
hereby declared henceforth to be a four way stop
intersection.
Section 2. That this Ordinance shall become effective upon its
adoption and publication as required by law.
ADOPTED this 13th day of May, 2013.

RESOLUTION NO. -13
A RESOLUTION
ACCEPTING THE BID OF
VARIOUS COMPANIES
FOR HEAVY EQUIPMENT RENTAL; AND
AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF CONTRACTS

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GULF SHORES,
ALABAMA, WHILE IN REGULAR SESSION ON MAY 13, 2013, as follows:
Section 1. That the bid of Cowin Equipment Company for rental
of tracked excavators, compactor vibratory–asphalt, compactor
vibratory-soil, towable air compressors, be and the same is hereby
accepted, being the lowest, most responsible, among sealed bids
opened on April 2, 2013.
Section 2. That the bid of Pittman Tractor Company for rental
of 4 x 4 diesel utility vehicles, be and the same is hereby
accepted, being the lowest, most responsible, among sealed bids
opened on April 2, 2013.
Section 3. That the bid of Hertz Rentals for rental of tracked
crawler dozer, wheeled front end loader, wheeled skid steer loaders,
tracked skid steer loaders, tracked excavators, long reach
excavators, compactor vibratory-soil, scissor lifts, man lifts,
trenchers, towable air compressors, be and the same is hereby
accepted, being the lowest, most responsible, among sealed bids
opened on April 2, 2013.
Section 4. That the bid of United Rentals for tracked crawler
dozer, wheeled front end loader, compactor vibratory-asphalt,
compactor vibrating-soil, be and the same is hereby accepted, being
the lowest, most responsible, among sealed bids opened on April 2,
2013.
Section 5. That the Mayor and City Clerk be and they are
hereby authorized and directed to execute and attest, respectively,
contracts between the City of Gulf Shores and Cowin Equipment
Company, Pittman Tractor Company, Hertz Rentals, United Rentals for
heavy equipment rental; in substantially the form presented to
Council this date.
Section 6. That this Resolution shall become effective upon
its adoption.
