Will someone so move? Motion offered by Meneses and seconded by McAuliffe that there be a public hearing. PUBLIC HEARING – Len Nix, 83 Elm Avenue, questioned whether some of the money could be used for sidewalks and was advised by Mr. Lo Iacono that it could not be, sidewalks are the responsibility of the property owner. Mr. Nix further stated that sections of sidewalk are missing on Spring Valley Avenue and also that it is his opinion that handicapped curb ramps should be put in the most highly trafficked area. Motion offered by Melfi and seconded by McAuliffe that the public hearing be closed. BE IT RESOLVED that the above ordinance, being Ordinance 16-2007 as introduced, does now pass on first reading and that said Ordinance shall be considered for final passage at a meeting to be held on May 22, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter as the matter can be reached at the regular meeting place of the City Council and at such time and place all persons interested be given an opportunity to be heard concerning said Ordinance and that the City Clerk be and she is hereby authorized and directed to publish said ordinance according to law with a notice of its introduction and passage on first reading and of the time and place when and where said ordinance will be further considered for final passage. Roll Call: Ayes - Melfi, Townes, Meneses, McAuliffe, Sasso NO. 155-07 OFFERED BY: TOWNES SECONDED BY: MC AULIFFE WHEREAS, the City of Hackensack and the Bergen County Utility Authority desire to enter into a solid waste service agreement pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:8A-1 et seq. wherein the City of Hackensack shall deliver municipally-generated solid waste to the waste management station for processing, transportation and disposal, and the Bergen County Utility Authority shall provide such solid waste processing, transportation, and disposal services to the Municipality in an cooperative effort relating to municipal solid waste management under the terms and conditions set forth in the interlocal agreement; and WHEREAS, the respective parties are desirous of entering into a three (3) year solid waste service agreement contract commencing June 1, 2007 between the City of Hackensack and the Bergen County Utility Authority; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Council of the City of Hackensack hereby authorize the City Manager of the City of Hackensack to sign the Interlocal Agreement on behalf of the City of Hackensack as well as any other documents that may be required to effectuate performance of this agreement.
