As a matter of public policy the Applicant’s Unit of Government wishes to participate to the fullest extent possible with the Department of Law and Public Safety. 2. The Attorney General will receive funds on behalf of the applicant. 3. The Division of Criminal Justice shall be responsible for the receipt and review of the applications for said funds. 4. The Division of Criminal Justice shall initiate allocations to the Applicant as authorized by law. Roll Call: Ayes- Meneses, Townes, Sasso, McAuliffe, Melfi NO. 352 - 08 OFFERED BY: SASSO SECONDED BY: MENESES WHEREAS, New Jersey State Department of Health and Senior Services has established protocols and procedures for local health departments to use when implementing a Tobacco Age of Sale Enforcement program; and WHEREAS, these procedures require local health departments to submit recommendations for the suspension or revocation of tobacco licenses for merchants who have been convicted in a court of competent jurisdiction, more than twice, for selling tobacco products to a minor and to their local governing body for review; and WHEREAS, Greg and Artin Service, Inc., located at 141 Johnson Avenue, Hackensack, New Jersey has been convicted in Hackensack Municipal Court of selling tobacco products to minors on four (4) separate occasions. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that after considering the facts of the above referenced case and the recommendation of the Health Officer, the Mayor and City Council recommend that the State of New Jersey, Department of Treasury, suspend the license to sell tobacco products of Greg and Artin Service, Inc. for a period of 364 days. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Health Officer is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this resolution to the New Jersey State Department of Health and Senior Services for their review and forward to the New Jersey State Department of Treasury.
