Thank you for the opportunity to provide this information B. Goals for today: • Early Voting site decision/consideration • Charter amendment information – no decision is expected – this is information for your review • Clarify the role of the City Election Board C. Brief history Based on results of a ballot question in May, 2009, the Mayor and Council amending the charter to change the election date to match the Presidential Election schedule Voter turnout: 2009 Primary 11.82% 2009 General 15.0 % D. Current City Election Board members are: Eve McGrory, Janet Bartels, Paul Muldowney E. Current County Election Board members are: Eileen Wiggins, John Benchoff, Carroll Earp, Clyde Tate, Sharon Washington, and Roger Schlossberg, Attorney F. Early Voting G. Charter Changes – to reflect that the Washington County Board will be conducting the election and to match State Law • Language • Process • Forms H. City Board future I. Precinct Changes J. Next steps: • Decide if the Early Voting site will/should be within the City limits • Draft language for Charter amendments – anticipate that amendments be approved by November 10, 2011 to be effective by December 31, 2011 in preparation for the Primary election
