Ryan Municipal Building JULY 4TH COMMITTEE Minutes June 11, 2025 Village Hall (Board Room) 1.0 Call to Order & Roll Call- N. Wilkes called to order at 6:32pm. Present: N. Wilkes, E. Valaitis, R. Lindner, S. Sabbatini, D. Besson, I. Thomson, M.Eternicka, A Dunning, K. Laufer 2.0 Minutes–Approval of May 14, 2025, minutes (N. Wilkes, M. Eternicka – All Approved) 3.0 Treasurer’s Report • M. Eternicka presented an updated Financial Report • I. Thomson confirmed the purchase of a new PA System. 4.0 Safety & Security Review • Officer Henner was not present. • Striders will confirm with Officer Henner about police presence at 116th& Grange. • Striders will have signage designating the new route directions. 5.0 Food and Drink Vendors • N. Wilkes reported only four vendors have completed contracts. In & Out Foods, Perspective Brewery, Ochos Mexican Grill. and Tundra Treats. 6.0 Website Review • N. Wilkes asked members to review the information for their events and let her know of any changes. • Bed Race Form is posted; however, the form cannot be complete online. Registrants may download and print the form to bring with them on the fourth. 7.0 Events 7.1 Firecracker Four • K. Laufer inquired about using the pool house on Thurs. 7/3 from 12noon- 4pm for Firecracker Four packet pick up. D. Besson will confirm. • If needed K. Laufer will plug in the freezer at noon on 7/3. A. Dunning and E. Valaitis may do this on 7/2. 7.2 Car Show • Holtz and Lion’s Club are planning. Should be all set. D. Besson has a meeting with Holtz this week. • Holtz will have one gator vehicle for use on the 4th. 7.3 Children’s Parade • D. Besson will confirm with the Fire Chief about the start of the parade. • A. Dunning to confirm 7/3 pickup time for Ice Cream  7.4 Children’s Games No additional update 7.5 Patriotic Pet Costume Contest • N. Wilkes presented a new entry form and scoring sheet. 7.6 Pie Baking Contest • I. Thomson reported that all for Pie is fine. • I. Thomson with check with Diane Besson to see if she is willing to host the contest again. 7.7 Hot Dog Eating Competition • Ian confirmed the Fire Department will have medical support present. 7.8 Bed Races • R. Lindner and S. Sabbatini reported. • Beds will be moved to a more accessible location. • The Bed’s wheels and alignment will be worked on. • Bed Trophies for first place are in. • Committee nixed the idea of having bed on sight during Firecracker Four and Children’s games for photos and promotion. • N. Wilkes presented the signage option for the listing of all 4th of July events. Sign will be up by pool house on the 4th and D. Besson will check with Holtz about having an events listing sign at the car show. Committee members reviewed the sign copy. 7.9 Big Parade • M. Eternicka has coordinated with N&S Towing and will oversee the review stand set up. • I. Thomson reported that most parade units are confirmed. Many of the regular units should participate. • The Village has authorized 4th of July unit contracts to go straight to S. Kulik • UW Marching Band confirmed for parade and 5th quarter • The parade will include six floats, • A Trolley has been ordered for the Hawthorne Garden Club. • O. Sterny has offered to coordinate float judging. • N. Wilkes has ordered the Float Best in Show Plaque. 7.10 Fireworks • Rain date will be Hales Corners National Night Out Aug. 5th. 8.0 Publicity 8.1 Press Release • N. Wilkes will send current event information to the Now and Journal Sentinel. • N. Wilkes will confirm with T. Colbert about photography. 9.0 Adjournment- 7:36 pm Motion by N. Wilkes second by M.
