BEE CITY USA - Hampton
MEETING MINUTES
March 23, 2023
Meeting was called to order at 2:33pm by Barbara Abraham on March 23,2023. Present were
Barbara Abraham, Al Banwell, Debby Blanton, Wendy Iles, and Gayle Mooney.
Minutes from the February 16, 2023, meeting was reviewed. Motion made by Gayle Mooney to
approve and seconded by Al Banwell. All present approved.
Participation in upcoming events was discussed.
Mosaic Festival will be on April 22, 2023, at Mill Point Park. Gayle and Tony Mooney will be
there from 8:30 am until. Al Banwell will be there at 9 am on and provide an observation hive, weather
permitting. George Curran will be there from 3 pm on. Barbara Abraham will be there from 11 am to 3
pm. Handouts and activities were discussed and Gayle Mooney will pick up totes at the April 20, 2023,
Bee City meeting.
Creation Day is at the Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church on Beach Road on April 15, 2023.
Barbara Abraham and Al Banwell will attend. Observation hive will be provided, weather permitting, and
handouts will be available.
Bee City will host a stand at the Buckroe Beach Farmers’ Market on June 17, 2023. Gayle
Mooney stated she had plants for sale for that event. Additional discussion followed regarding supply
availability.
The Bee City membership has been paid to the national organization in the amount of $500 for
the upcoming year.
Documents (photos, etc.) are needed for uploading to the Bee City website. Provide to Wendy
Iles.
Barbara Abraham asked about doing a webinar series. She is currently doing one for Master
Gardeners through the Extension Office and raised the possibility of doing one on Bee City related topics
such as grass killing in preparation for starting pollinator gardens. Discussion ensued and the topic of
discussing such series was tabled until a future Bee City meeting when the entire committee was
present.
Motion to adjourn was made by Al Banwell and seconded by Gayle Mooney. Meeting was
adjourned at 3:20 pm by acclamation.
