Litter Awareness & Recycling Committee Minutes
Thursday, June 1, 2023 - HCCC Office
Present: Pat Parker, Ryan Adams, Corlease Sills
Absent: Loye Spencer, Leslie Crandoll
Staff: Cris Ausink, Courtney Worrall
Meeting called to order at 10:13 am
Approval of May minutes: A motion made by Ryan, seconded by Corlease and all approved.
NEW BUSINESS:
• Election of new Chair & Vice-Chair- Motion made by Pat to make Corlease the interim Chair
with Ryan and the interim Vice-Chair, seconded by Ryan and all approved. Corlease agreed to
be the interim Chair and Ryan agreed to be the interim Vice-Chair.
• Cleanup at Fire Station #11 -Cleanup will be on June 3 at 9am near Fire Station #11 and a 10am
tour may be possible if station personnel is available. Cris will lead the cleanup and Pat will
attend the cleanup.
• Farmer’s Market—The Buckroe Farmer’s Market will be on June 24, 2023. Committee agreed to
postpone May Farmers Market outreach table due to tents ban because of high wind gusts.
Weather was not suitable for our activity. The setup and volunteer schedule will be the same.
• July 2023 meeting date - Decision made by the committee to cancel the July 2023 meeting and
have the next meeting on August 3, 2023.
• Ideas for possible upcoming projects - Once a month community cleanups, Marquee litter
slogan program in the community, possible program with local libraries, collaborate with the
Clean & Green Workplaces committee, and more ideas will be brought to the August meeting.
OLD BUSINESS:
• May Fire Station #10 cleanup— Cleanup went well. There were six volunteers and they
collected six bags of trash.
Meeting adjourned at 11:33am.
NEXT MEETING: Thursday, August 3, 2023, 10:00am in HCCC Conference Room.
