HAMPTON COMMISSION ON THE ARTS MEETING MINUTES September 14, 2017 – The American Theatre Attending Present: Nancy Eason, Rick Allison, Lynda Burke, Derrick Brooks, Jim Dees, Laura Fitzpatrick, Richard M. Parison, Jr., Absent: Rick Bagley, Linda Curtis, Gail Rehmert, Jackie Merritt Called to Order Ms. Eason called the meeting to order at 4:02pm Special Presentation Ms. Eason introduced Roxanne Lopez-Brown, teacher from Hampton High School who presented to the Commission on her students use of the Arts in Education Grant. Approval of Minutes The minutes from the last meeting we read and approved unanimously. Report from the Artistic Director Artistic Director, Mr. Parison reported on the FY17 Outside Agency allocation to the Hampton Arts Commission. He also reported on the FY18 Outside Agency allocation to Hampton Arts Commission. The Arts in Schools program was increased for the FY18 year by $2,000 to allow more schools and students to benefit. The allocation was unanimously approved. Report from The Chair Members reviewed the Arts in the School Grant application and agreed on a few changes to the forms. The applications will go out to the Hampton Schools in the next few days and grant applications are due by October 20, 2017. The applications will be sent via PDF to Catherine Hagner in Hampton Arts and she will distribute to Commission members before the November meeting in time for them to review. New Business Mr. Allison discussed his Choral Teams fundraising efforts. There was no other new Business. Next Meeting Our next meeting is Thursday October 12, 2017 at 4pm at the Jones Magnet Middle School. There will be no business transacted at this meeting other than reviewing the schools completion of their arts in the schools project. Adjourn There being no further business before the Commission, it was moved and seconded to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 5:05 PM.
